We'll see. Still a pretty small screen for a touch screen unit. Don't get the optical tracking button on a touch screen at all. The video that is floating about looks slick, but missing from it are the hole views and targeting. The big issues I had with the uPro were that some of the photography was hard to see, and way too many different button presses to get to the screens you would use for a round in pro mode. The various swiping gestures to navigate the screens in the video seems like a similar deal… plus if I have to move the pointer around the screen with that little button I don't see much improvement here interface-wise.

I was going to wait but with the Garmin G5 going for about $250 now-a-days, I pulled the trigger on it as I have always wanted one, just not bad enough to spend $500.

Guess we won't really know 'till May.

I could live with the uPro if the ProMode courses were a one-time fee of $69. Basically feel like C-way's sticking it to the original uPro buyers with newer models that have lower course cost info.

I wouldn't wait for this unit though. I'll just live with my uPro and regular mode and trust my eyes for the actual course/object info. It's more of a distance/rangefinder than something to help me shot plan through each hole.

Care to share where these are going for 250 or so. Closest is a refurb on Ebay. 250 is the price this unit in the market place though.

That is how you move the marker around to get accurate distances. Optical tracking = less prone to malfunction over joystick on current uPro.

And it will also be $199 when released.

Pretty sure I'll be reviewing one.

I guess I get confused easily...I have spent the last 72 hours reading "consumer" reviews of every flipping GPS out there. With that said, the UPro has not recieved a very favorable rating...in fact, mid to lower level of the better brands. With that said and "new" gimmicks aside, how will this model move them up into the top 3 based on "consumer" ratings? Not so-called expert or website ratings (advertising driven), but by actual users? Trust me, I love their clear graphics...the best of class, but other than that, they just don't get the love from actual users. Change my mind please!!

I was going to purchase a Upro Go because it looked simple. Not sure about the MX. Looking at a Golf Buddy instead.

Me too, or the Garmin G5 Approach. Higher priced than the Callaway models, but much better acceptance by actual users, not "golf sites.". I think many buy the UPro's because the Callaway name is attached and their graphics are awesome. Honestly, based on "golfer reviews" I should be buying the GolfLogix unit. However, there is rumor they won't be around by the end of this year.

I'm definitely interested in the Upro MX. Time to sell some stuff.

Good luck...tell me how it works out, all the other Callaway GPS products have averaged a combined 3 out of 5 stars from actual users. This is hardly a stellar grade. I will NOT go by any website review unless it has actual user feedback. The Callaway products get nice marks from those that take their advertising money, but us consumers have been less than impressed. They have great WOW factor for graphics and then................?

I have a upro for about 3 years. I like it. Find it helpful. Graphics are good. Turn off the flyover for speed. Does what I need, tells me front back middle. Gives me the ability to draw a line to any point on the course to get distances to doglegs etc. Also gives carry distance to traps. Wish the screen was larger but fits in a pocket easy. Other wish is that it was easier to use with a Mac. Basic info is free for any course. Pro mode a couple of bucks

Not sure why you're being so hard on the uPro... have you actually used one? I have, and it is one of the best.

I agree. I love my uPro, even more after the stats/shot tracking upgrade. The screen may be a little small for those with bad vision, but I've had no issues with mine.

Sorry if I sound like I am against the Upro. I am not. I just want to make sure I make a smart purchase and have read some things like "it is the slowest" of the models out there to recongnize distance. Many have said that they need to "wake it up" from the time they leave the tee and arrive at their next shot...my partners would throw me in the pond if that is true. Is it? I actually have it on my "maybe buy" list, but want a GPS that speeds up play, not slow it down. Though I know there is a big price difference and I'd love to save money, the Garmin Approach 5 seems to be the top pick, but if I can save $100 on the Upro Go I will buy it; but not if it is as slow with this silly "go to sleep" mode as I've been reading consistently. If you turn that mode off, it is said to chew up the battery. Can I get feedback per this please?? Thanks guys!!

In a way both go to sleep. While the G5 is always on, the screen's back light dims after 15 seconds of no screen touching. Touching the screen restores the backlight. The uPro actually enters a sleep mode after a short period of inactivity. I forget how long that is but it is longer than 15 seconds. You can turn this behavior off on the uPro (at the expense of battery life).., you can't on the Garmin.

As far as slow to acquire satellites... I noticed little difference between the two. Note that any GPS can be slow to acquire sats under some atmospheric conditions.

I do find the interface of the Garmin to be better thought out, and requiring a minimum amount of fiddling (for a graphically oriented device). And there is no question the Garmin has higher build quality. It is truly an outdoor device.

The uPro on the other hand does show more detail around the greens, and of course the aerial views of the hole, although some courses are more contrasty then others. The display is also a little brighter than the Garmin, although it is badly blocked by polarized glasses. If you wear them, you will find the Garmin display more readable.

You will also find the uPro to be extremely pocketable... not so much with the Garmin. Batteries are easily replaced in both units, but of course the uPro uses a proprietary rechargeable, while the Garmin uses AA's.

I use a Upro, albeit usually in basic mode, and it finds distances within seconds. I actually chose it over a skycaddie a couple years ago because after demoing both I felt like the Upro was faster. I usually start it up when I arrive in the parking lot of the course, and after that I never wait more than about 5 seconds on any shot.
