Do you believe in seasonal iron sets? I have apparently have too many seasons...

Do you believe in having multiple iron sets for the different seasons? When I was working at my clubs and completely immersed in the game I had 5 sets in the rotation. A summer, fall, winter, spring, and Tournament set. Now I know, most people would say thats crazy. But this is golfWRX and I know a few of you are just as "crazy" as I am. But if you think about it it makes sense.

Tournament; Callaway X Protos with Satin PX 6.5

Summer; Adams Pro Black MBs with Black Nickel KBS X

Fall; Mizuno MP33 with S300

Winter; Callaway X-Forged (07) with TT Black Gold S

Spring; Ping S59 with Satin PX 7.0

Each seasons shaft and head combo were strategically put together. I lived on Long Island and we were open all year. Depending if it was a course on the water or inland, wind or trees.

Thoughts. Most people's arguments are "how can you get a feel for one set. That's too much change" but it really wasn't. I loved it.

Let me know if you think I was/am crazy or if you agree with me.

Haha...you're nuts, no question! ;)

I don't think it's wrong to want to switch some things out though, especially if you're talking about playing in 90+ degree weather in the summer and then sub-40 degree weather in the winter.

I've thought about switching things up for the winter season down here. Even though you get plenty of days below 50 degrees, I just can't seem to stop playing regularly. When the grass goes dormant and the ground firms up here, I know switching irons can have a profound effect.

Dude you are totally not maximizing your potential. What about early spring? Late summer? Summer solstice? autumnal equinox? uhh.... A Labor day set! Kidding of course, but I like how you think. I do have a high and low driver. Well.... Ok, I have multiples of those too. Seriously though I'll change out hybrids for long irons depending on playing conditions. Low lofted drivers or high ones when I want to maximize for soft conditions. I use a belly putter on courses I know have slow greens. You are not alone in your madness my friend.

The first step towards recovery is admitting you have a problem. But..... when you rationalize out the thought behind each set, it sort of makes sense, in a crazy sort of way! haha. I know i am not alone, i was just hoping for more encouragement and agreement. Someone else has to have 5 sets at one point. I know they are out there. Come on and admit it!

I am not in your league but I am a card carrying member. The spring up here is cold wet and windy so I start out with TM r7 TP, the wider soles help with the soggy turf. As things warm up I switch to MP 53 and then mid summer is hot and dry so out come the MP 32. I will switch out the MP 32 for the MP 53 at the drop of a hat if I need the extra forgivness, read sucking with ball striking :swoon:

MP-32s are a fantastic summer set. One of the best sets Mizuno ever made. 33s were my favorite. Awesome to know that others rotate iron sets too!

Nah we only have a rainy season here in Seattle, so I play one set year round. Naturally to combat the wet, cold and soft conditions its a set of thin-soled blades :D

Yea I do love the MP 32, much easier to hit than you would think. I have other sets as well but they only come out on the odd occasion when I am feeling like a change. Hogan Apex Plus and Apex Edge Pro, I am a bit of a forged addict.

The Hogan Apex line of irons are fantastic forged clubs. Both as gamers and wall pieces. Just an awesome looking and playing club.!
