Copper blade irons w/SP Blue in S 3-PW… Built from Miura forged heads

Recommended Posts

Blade Golf TF-2 - had them leave off the chrome plating so they are copper finished. When I got these they indicated they were being made from their remaining stock of Miura 5003 blanks. I can get Blade Golf to validate this for a serious buyer…

The copper makes them play buttery soft, approaching Epon/ONOFF soft.

No unusual wear and tear, you can see the patina and how wear on the face occurs. Quite a striking club and a joy to hit.

Shafts are amazing too. Am told the shafts alone are worth upwards of $250..

I am asking $450 plus actual shipping and fees...

Details and pics:

These were built by an International Top 10 Clubmaker

Non-conforming grooves

NS SP Blue in stiff

Swingweight ~D2

38.5" 5-iron

2* upright when they were made...

GripMaster leather OS tour wraps, really feel more mid sized than OS...

Blade Golf pics:

Priced to sell, not haggling...

Sorry, added the and fees had it on there before when the Baby Blades were in the ad, must have removed it when I removed references to them.

Thanks

SMUGamer,

Thanks for the comment.
Shafts are phenomenal. Low piercing trajectory with great feel. How do you top that. Oh, put some of the best feeling blade irons made on the end of them...

I Made the move to graphite shafts and conforming grooves so am hoping to pass these along to someone else that can enjoy them...

Very good heads, predecessor to the 1957 Series. Basically when the 2010 Groove Rule went into effect they replaced the Baby Blade with the 1957 Series. Below is a snipet from an email thread I had with Bill Hollowaty at Miura at the time...
Thanks for the email.

We will make the Baby Blade (Series 1957) available with conforming
grooves. They would need to be specially ordered with conforming grooves
until the end of 2009. Until the end of 2009, they will be available
with the grooves that conform to "today's" rules and with the 2009
rules.

I hope this helps.

Bill

Tincup,

Thanks for the compliment...

No, there is no risk at the copper chipping off. These are plated, similar to the chrome on most irons. My concern when I had them done was that they would dimple as the copper is softer than chrome, but that has not ben an issue at all. Admittedly, I tend to use a $15 set of neoprene head covers, but more because the noise annoys me when I carry...

Not only are they stunning, they are Miura forged so soft to begin with and the copper keeps them that way…

These are a bargain for the quality that they are, most people just have not heard of Blade golf. These would sell for more than $1k new...

I believe the SW to be D2'ish, but I just don't remember. The shaft spec per Nippon Golf site is 125 grams. When I weighed the PW the static weight was around 480g so just about 1lbs…

New from Blade Golf these sell for $1k, add in a shaft upgrade to one of the best heavy lower flighted shafts on the market. These are a steal…. They are a treasure unknown by most.

If you like the Miura, you will love these...

man those are filthy...im not ready for blades but maybe ill take the plunge!!

I'll take filthy to be a compliment… In this case most of what you are seeing as "filth" is actually a patina of the copper. Since they haven't been played in over a year, they have dulled. When being gamed the sole and location of ball striking do not patina but the rest of the club does. Kind of like real silver silverware, if you eat of it only on holidays you need to polish it, where as if you use it constantly it stays sparkling...

I think blades are under-rated as a game improvement club. If you are trying to improve your game then blades are the best tool. as you quickly learn how your ball striking is lacking and are forced to correct it. GI and SGI clubs might help you score better but they do not actually help your gam improve. Depends on the individuals objectives...

He means they're "nasty", "sick", "ridiculous"...like a pitcher that throws a no-hitter with the same adjectives.

That being said, he's completely right.

How tempting! If they feel anything like that buttery-smooth click you get with copper putters...holy crap.

Nasty, sick, ridiculous, I have heard in positive contexts. Not filthy, though...
In any case, not as buttery as a pure copper putter. I have a custom made Slighter copper putter and it is butter. But these are some of the softest blades I have hit. At this point, I have a set of Epon Personals and RomaRo Pro Forged which are both amazingly soft. These are softer...

Sort of like, "the pitcher threw a filthy curveball." They do look awesome, too bad I can't hit blades.
