Hi, my name is coffee, and i'm from philadelphia

Recommended Posts

howdy everyone,

my name is joe, but my friends call me coffee.

i'm 22, 6'2, 300lbs, and recently graduated college.

My friends and I have recently gotten into golf, and when we pick a hobby we go hard after it.

This seemed like the best place to start, so wanted to stop by and say hi!

I've only played golf on a course 3x before, and that was 4 years ago. This friday I will be playing a course in reading and starting anew my golf story.

Fun Fact: I used to have a mullet

Favorite Golfers: Jim Furyk, John Daly, Dustin Johnson

Favorite Musical Artists: David Bowie, Kanye West, Meek Mill, The Black Keys

Favorite Books: The Count of Monte Cristo, The Dharma Bums, Steve Jobs

Favorite Pens: PenTel Energel, Lamy Safari M nib, Zebra Brush Pen, Pilot v5

Have any other questions, give me a holler

Welcome Coffee,, business in the front?

Lots of useful information here, but don't let the club ho's persuade you to buy lots of brand new clubs until you get your came under control a little bit (unless you're in to that sort of thing, then you'll fit right in ;))

Thanks, I've been lurking around the boards for a while and have just scratched the surface, this place seems awesome! I read the entire "You KNow You're Addicted to Golf "thread yesterday at work lol.

Greetings and Welcome Coffee!

Golf is a game with a lot of nuances...you are in for an interesting ride. :-)

Thanks! I'm so excited to get out and start playing. It's weird how the change happened. 1 year ago I couldve cared less about golf, now I can't turn the golf channel off and dream about playing.

I'm not worried about turning into a club ho just yet, the war chest is quite low haha.
And the mullet was business in the front and lot's of party in the back. But if i didn't get the front trimmed often enough it would become party in the front, party in the back lol

Haha, I'm there with you. My inner club ho is only released within local goodwill's and DAV's until I've got some splurging money.

I never went mullet, but I've had some long hair in the past, definitely was interesting (lol)

I never thought to look at goodwill's/thrift shops for golf clubs, but it's definitely on my check list the next time i go. I've seen some people come out of there with some steals. and long hair is the way to go (at least at some point in life)

There might not be a lot of clubs coming out of there that you'd necessarily want to put in your bag to play with, but there can be some real gems in there. Not to mention clubs that can be fun to take to the range and hit (1 iron butter knife blades, old persimmon woods, etc). You can also find some great golf related stuff (books, paintings/frames, bags, balls, tees, hats, etc). I've found myself quickly becoming a sucker for $2 putters, heh, and the other day I walked out with a 'like new' cart bag with a 14 way divider top and putter tube for $4.25... which now houses a lot of old putters, lol. That bag WILL be used on the course if I ride.

Let me know if you find any loot!

I'm not very particular, but i like bold dark roasts.
Wawa Kona is one of my favorites, and at work they have something called Dark Magic which is stellar

Also, played my first round today with friends.
Shot a 147 :black eye:
would've been a lot closet to 120, but shot a couple 15's. But whatever I hit a green in regulation on a par three, and had a couple powerhouse drives so I was content. Not much worse I can do , so I can only go better lol

Hey man, golf is a lot of repetition; wash, rinse, and repeat. (the hair analogy wasn't even planned, lol) Throw lessons in and your repetition becomes a lot more beneficial and consistent. I think it must've been something in the air today, I didn't have that good of a round either. Lost too many marbles.

I can't wait to get back out there. It's weird how you can play so badly, but still want to do it again.

Welcome aboard mr. coffee

I love office supplies, notebooks, pens, pencils, binders. It has a small, but active niche on the internet.

Love the Lamy Safari. Great fountain pen.

I bought it for my birthday last year with some sailor jentle grenade red ink. it's unbelievable how well it writes. I've started writing letters to friends instead of calling them just so I can use it more lol
