Wilson FG Tour X

Not sure if anyone has ever posted about these balls, but I'm just curious if anyone9 other than myself has given these balls a shot. I'm not sure when they came out and how old they are, but hopefully after reading these someone will scoop up a dozen.

 

I was in Walmart a week from today, and they had a few dozen of these balls for $13.00. The price before they were put on clearance was $39.99 After checking them out, I pulled the trigger on them and bought myself a dozen. Prior to these, the ball I found myself gaming mostly was the Titleist Pro V1x, Taylormade TP Red & Black, Callaway SR2 & Taylormade TP5/Lethal from time to time. Sunday I had a 6:25 tee time at a local executive course out on Long Island and decided to throw the FG Tour X's in the bag to check them out. I was speechless, and couldn't understand how I got the dozen for only $13.00. I felt the ball had a much better flight than most of the balls I listed above, and reacted better than I could of asked for around the greens. Had a nice soft feel while being in total control, and found it to be about 5-8 yards longer. It took me a few holes to get used to, but that should b expected when you tinker with equipment. If you guys are in the market for a real good quality ball without having to spend $47.99, the Wilson FG Tour X is the ball. I liked them so much, that I went back to Walmart the next day to grab whatever the had left off the ball. I don't know about you, but $65 for 5 dozen of AMAZING QUALITY golf balls seems like highway robbery to me.

 

I saw they had FG Tour balls, so I'd assume they are equivalent to the Titleist Pro V1, but I can't speak for that ball since I did not try it.

The FG Tour and Tour X are very popular around here, especially the cosmetic blemished ones that can be had for dirt cheap

The thing is they're no longer in production. Never try the new FG Tour (2014), but some said not as good as the old FG Tour X.

I know I'm being superficial, but I just don't like the labelling on the old FG Tour/x. I don't understand why they didn't use the wilson staff label which is on lower teir balls, it looks much better than the plain old Wilson writing on the FG Tour balls. I know it's stupid and it shouldn't make any difference but for me it does

Very popular ball on these boards and for good reason. I am rocking 13 dozen at present (along with 8 dozen FG Tour) with little plan to share.

$2.97 a sleeve at PGA Superstore; I bought eight of them.

Normally play B330... I'll report back on this ball after tomorrow's round.

Its the only ball with a higher compression than the B330 and 20xi-X. I'm very excited.

I'm still in love with these things. Been in my bag since the day I bought them and don't think they are ever coming out. Its a shame they are no longer in production. My buddy's father owns a driving range and the only items he sells happens to be Wilson Staff. He is in the process of getting in touch with WS to see if they have any laying around the warehouse and can ship them out to Long Island !

I hate the fact that they're no longer in production. For me, finding a ball that suits you most is harder than finding a new job. LOL!

Best ball to date in my opinion. I know people enjoy the prov but I have never liked it. Previous balls I have enjoyed were hx black tour, tp black ldp, b330s. For me the fg tour x was super long off the woods but soft and spun for the low irons and wedge. A ball that I can hit 290 off the tee and spin on half wedge shots is perfect in my book. Buying up all the fg tour x I can find!

I couldn't agree more! I bought all the ones I found after using them. I was considering trying the new FG Tour ball. They don't make the Tour & Tour X anymore, it's not just " FG Tour". Has anyone tried it yet?

The new FG Tour has been described on these forums many times as splitting the difference between FG Tour and FG Tour X.

fg tour was my favorite ball until i tried fg tour x.
the durability sucks however.
