cast putters vs milled

how much of difference do you think solid block milled putters have over mass produced

cast putters ??? etc.

 

personally i don't think there's much. unless the putter is forged (which block machined putters are'nt i believe)

then the same metal inconsistencies remain in grain etc.

 

As for feel, if some of the putter nuts here really believe GSS and carbon steel are the ultimate, then we should all be using BeCu putters... without doubt they are the softest.

 

any ideas why the balata/isopur putters are virtually non existant & not so popular now.. a fad ??

 

appears workmanship and finishes are more important to the mid and low golfers than feel.

 

nobody here would set out on the course with the most beautiful driver that lost them 20 yards yet

pink faced and gripped putter do with girls names... i find that strange.

 

is putting the odd man out when it comes to fundamentals ??

Balata-insert putters felt like a sponge and had the same rebound characteristics.

 

I think it would be more accurate to say workmanship and finish are important additional factors for better golfers gaming a nice putter. And why not? The putter gets seen close up more than any other club, both by it's owner and playing partners and remains the only club that can totally incorporate aesthetic tastes as well as functional values.

I know that in irons, cast clubs can have "Hot Spots" where the ball recoils at greater velocity than other spots. I don't know if this is true with putters. I have had many cast putters and really never noticed a difference. I own milled putters now. I am not sure if there is a difference except that the putters I own feel more solid. But then again, they are blade types except for my Inspired by Brad Faxon. I can compare the IBBF to a Ping Zing (never owned a My Day) and the IBBF is heavier and it feels more solid like a blade. This may have more to do with the weight than whether the putter is cast or milled.

BeCu is actually quite hard.
