Just an FYI I wouldn't go back there. I've played there and called it my home course for right at 20 years. My group, which consists of my uncle, his best friend and an old friend of ours that's in his 70's has been playing there for over 20 years. I've been playing with those 3 for right at 20 years (I'm 31 for reference). Today was the last straw for me at the course I've been calling my home course all this time.

 

We've had a tee time at 9:00 am on Saturdays for 20+ years. Through a sale of the course, bankruptcy, another sale and reopen after nearly 2 years closed. We stuck by them through all that time. The GM has always been the same, I'm distantly related to him. And I'll be giving him a call Monday to let him know exactly why I won't be back.

 

On to what happened today that was the last straw. Like I said, we've had a standing tee time at 9:00 forever. It's reserved every week and into the future as well. Get there this morning and notice a huge back up on the first tee. Think hmm what's this about. Go in to pay and ask. Seems the head pro, who's been there since the reopen a few years ago, and some of his friends have started a Saturday game. That's fine, no problem. Except they don't block off tee times they just go to the tee with the massive group and start sending off foursomes. It gets to 8:40 and there's 4 foursomes left. Not sure if anyone is counting but standard is at least 8 minutes between tee times and lots of places 10. 4x8 is 32 at a minimum, 12 minutes after my tee time. It gets better. There's also an 8:52 and an 8:44 waiting. Zero consideration given to the people with tee times because the head pro decided he wants to have a Saturday game. What's better is he's on the tee to go off at 8:40 when I pull up, along with the assistant pro and a few others. So I accost him and ask what's up. His response? You guys can go off behind us.

 

No, I'm not going off behind you. I've had a tee time since before you thought about this course. It's standing at 9:00. I'm steaming and tell him no, I'm not waiting and I'm not going off the back. I made a tee time for a reason. It's inconsiderate and rude, especially to those that have stayed with the course forever through bankruptcy, owner changes and everything else. We're not members and for a premium tee time. There's a reason for that. Because that's the time we want to play and schedule our day around. And the course isn't meant to be played back 9 then front 9, the layout flows from front to back. And I made a tee time to play front side then back side. I get to play every other weekend now due to work and this screws me out of my day because he wanted to have a prime tee time Saturday game. I schedule things around me tee time, today I have a birthday party to go to for my best friend's son. I'd have missed that. I find out from those waiting that it's the second week in a row they've done it(I didn't play last week because of work).

 

I walked back in the pro shop and told him that I needed a refund right now. The guy in clubhouse wanted to know why and I told him exactly why. Because we've got a prime time tee time we've had for 20+ years and the head pro decided it didn't matter and that we can go off behind them. The foursome that walked in to pay heard this exchange and left as well. So that's 5 daily fees that cost them already. Sorry, but that's about enough of it for me. I will not let golf course management and the head pro bully people around because they just decide to start playing. It's a fun course and one I've enjoyed for a long time, but I'll be damned if the head pro's whims is going to ruin my Saturday. Tee times are made for a reason. They're also made to go off the front. The head pro just deciding to throw together a Saturday game during prime tee times just to play is a joke, especially when he doesn't make tee times or block tee times off nor notify those that have tee times.

 

Yes, I realize that's long and I'm still steaming. But thanks for letting me vent.
