Golf in the Berkshires

I'll be in the Berkshires, around Lennox and Pittsfield, in July. I've played Cranwell and Waubeeka before, and I'm looking for other suggestions? Thanks, Jim

I've never been there, but I hear Taconic Golf Club is the place to go. Looks to be 1/2 hr from [color=#282828]Pittsfield.[/color]

I have driven by cranwell a million times on my to VT and always wanted to play. It looks to be in good shape. They have a resort there so it's not a dog track or anything like that. Looks great.

Taconic is expensive but may be worth it and it should not be to far away

Taconic should be top of the list -- great layout and condition, plenty of history and tradition there (Multiple times site of Mass Open and Mass Am, also NCAA championships and USGA Jr Am and USGA Sr Am)
There is a plaque there were Jack Nicklaus made a hole in one on the 14th

Crumpin-Fox also a good take...but not really in the berkshires - on 91 in Greenfield area

I played Waubeeka Golf Links on Saturday. It was surprisingly in decent shape considering how hard it rained the day before. I've played there before, and always enjoy it. The course has a new owner, but I didn't notice any differences.

Today I played Taconic. It's a great course. I misplayed a few holes, before I realized you can never be above the hole. The non member weekend rate is pretty steep, I probably wouldn't play there regularly if I lived locally. But, as a vacation treat it was well worth it. Having said that, I can't wait to get an other crack at it.

FYI for anyone going to play Taconic. Their range in a mile away from the course, so give yourself extra time if you want to hit some balls. Waubeeka is 10 minutes from there and they have a very nice grass range..

Cranwell Resort & Golf Club in the Berkshires has a very memorable layout, though it's also quite short. The holes are very separate from one another, with thick banks of trees, escalating hillsides and water providing natural barriers. The uphill holes are generally the most exposed and wind can be punishing on them. The Norman Rockwell Museum is eight miles down the road in Stockbridge.

I just played Wahconah Country Club. It's really nice, two thumbs up.

If you can get out there CC of Pittsfield is VERY nice. Pretty private but if you are a member somewhere have your Pro call for you they might get you on.

Wahconah is awesome, very fun round of golf. If you don't mind driving go play Crumpin Fox in Bernardston. Beautiful track

I've played Crump & Fox once, it's excellent.

My wife is a summer camp director here. One of the owners is a member at Pittsfield CC. For years he's been saying he'll take me. Unfortunately, it has't happened yet.
