Honma TW717V irons

Hi, I'm a long time owner of Vega RAFC-01 irons which I love and am now building a second set of irons (I split my time between N America and UK and want to avoid lugging clubs back and forth).

 

I've hit many different heads but found myself really liking the Honma Tour World 717V irons. Anyone had any experience of these? Don't see much in the way of comment on the TW irons even in this forum.

Honma's Tour World irons are easily on my short list. Don't hesitate just because all you hear about around here is Miura!

I've tried all the Honma lineup, and I have found all the TW Irons to be very good. The P model is incredibly long and easy to hit. The V model is accurate, with some help from the cavity and a very nice feeling when hit. I tried it with Nippons 1150S and Modus3 S shafts, and liked the Modus better. Also the M blades were not as difficult as Others.
The V model is very close to my Miura CB501 in feel and perfermance

Thanks for the feedback - I went ahead and ordered them. For me worked better than anything else I tried but very surprised how little coverage they get compared to Miura and even Vega. I tried various shafts but ended up with KBS tour 90, very similar to NS 950 but preferred the flight. Much lighter than my previous shafts (PX) but just seemed to really work.

supo is right. miura is technically the only jdm brand which is why i only game miura.

im actualyl really tempted on the TW irons but im not a huge fan of the shaft selection

Actually, Miura technically isn't JDM...unless you're speaking Miura Giken.

Because your average Japanese player who would buy these irons is not overly strong?

bec in japan the ONLY stock shaft options are DGs200 or ns 950s.
950 are slightyl more on average.
still seems weird bec they are 12 7grams+/- and the ns are under 100
i d more than just guess DG are sooooooooo cheap it makes the clubs saleable.
lots of guys pull them anyway and repalce them with good shafts.

I play them since 4 Weeks (Actually I'm a high handicapper) and I just love them
Anything specific you're interested in? I mainly bought them because they had a nice impact / feel and I didn't lose any distance compared to my previous "game improving" irons. I actually won some yards in the meantime because I focus more on hitting the sweet spot on the irons now.

Single figure golfer, love the 717V with pro modus 120 stiff. Best combo ever until I got a set of FH1000 irons. Just in the process of switching over

I'm debating Modus3 120's vs NS Pro 1050's in them. I read that the Modus3's are low launching. I think I need some height so I'll probably get the 1050's, plus I like 100g shafts in irons.

Modus 120, best feeling steel shaft. Just get the regular that will send the ball to the moon LOL.

Modus3 120s are definitely NOT low launching. Easily the highest of the Modus3 series (120, 125, 130).

I'm a high ball hitter no matter which shaft I use (maybe slighter lower in some but not by much), so don't worry about launch height too much, but the thing i find most beneficial about the difference between 120/125/130 is what the ball does after it lands. my favorite so far is the 125, as when the ball comes back to earth, it's one nice hop and a few very tiny controlled hops then just stops, which really helps when firing at pins, perfect for your set of scoring blades.

Just got mine today, with the NS Pro 1050GH shafts. Went straight to the range from the post office. I might be in the honeymoon phase, but wow - I love everything about these so far! The feel when center struck is phenomenal, but if you mishit, they let say "stay focused, idiot…".

I also got a new "WTF" obscure brand driver today: Astro Tour VII w/ Quadra Fire Express Max WBQ 55 shaft. I love the sound and feel (muted) of this driver, but found the shaft to be a tad soft for me. Don't ask what "Under Sidesole" means… wtf?

Should be able to get a round in this weekend with these new weapons!

Astro Tours are no joke! They may not look as pretty or have school JDM name but they're solid performers!
