Club Corp buys Sequoia Golf

As another member Spicoli mentioned in the Manor thread, Club Corp now owns Sequoia's portfolio of golf courses, including all Canongate and the Sequoia branded courses - Manor, White Columns, Polo Club...and Atlanta National (?). I wonder what will fall out will occur and how much reciprocal play will be allowed. Already heard from a friend of mine - a member of Club Corp, that they will be allowed to play Windermere, Hamilton Mill and the Manor.... I wonder how they came up with those properties.

Will Canongate members have access to Club Corp courses and benefits... hmmm.

It will be interesting to see what happens. But I will bet that there were will be some very unhappy Canongate members when all is said and done. I would not be surprised to see ClubCorp implement their reciprocal play policies and sell off (or close if they cannot be sold) the lower tier Canongate courses. They will keep the high end courses that generate and can command the most membership fee revenues.

I am a member of Canongate (Heron Bay, Georgia National, Sun City). Rumor is (nothing official yet) that we will pick up home course playing privileges at Eagles Landing, and that it will be added to the southside cluster. Hopefully nothing changes to drastically and both sets of members will benefit from the acquisition.

Interesting take TM Hoyer... Did not think of that angle. As a northside canongate member I have grown frustrated with slow play at Olde Atlanta and Windermere, playing a lot of weekends at Traditions and Smokerise. I had considered a move to club corp, but do not want to pay initiation... Maybe this is the way in...time will tell...

I just don't see that happening. The cost to run and the value of a membership at Eagles Landing is significantly higher compared to the other three courses. I would expect the Eagles Landing membership to have a fit if that happened. Probably nothing will change until the deal closes and any changes will not start until 2015.

I know what you are talking about at Olde Atlanta. Every time I played there, it would take at least 20 minutes to find a parking spot. The last time I was there, a cart guy had me park in front of the club house. I had a brand new red Mustang, so that probably helped get his attention of the parking problem.

What is up with all the volatility with these mid tier clubs? Some great tracks involved in this and they keep getting passed around and traded on a bi-monthly basis.

Played a round at Atlanta National last month and met with their membership director. No hint that this was happening or in the works. While the initiation fee is far more affordable than in the past, it's still hard to plop down any chunk of change on a membership that is so in flux. Too many deals out there of clubs ALREADY owned by club corp or courses that are comfortable, affordable AND self sustaining to take a risk financially on any of these courses at this time IMO.
Seems like a lot of speculation but no inside info. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Eagles Landing is on par with The Frog, which is managed by Canongate with playing privileges for all.
Eagles Landings facilities are much nicer than the Frog, unless the Frog built a new club house I don't know about.

Yes, thats true, but I'd give the edge to the Frog on the course/layout. Last I'd checked, peak conditioning for both courses is in the past.

I have a friend that works for canongate, and he told me the other day to not expect to get Eagles Landing added to our cluster. He also said that eagles landing members would probably get playing privileges at HB, GN, SC.

I have played eagles landing several times in the last couple months and the course is in really good shape, except for the bunkers,I was surprised how bad those are considering everything else.

Raising this from the dead...Anyone hearing anything on this? Clubcorp seems to have added the canongate courses to their site, but pages are incomplete. Also not seeing anything about what changes are being made to membership tiers....

Word on the street is that an announcement will be made this month.

I will be interested to see what sort of reciprocal play policy is implemented. I get the feeling that as the acquired, Canongate members may have to pony up to gain full Club Corp privileges. But that is 100% pure speculation.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
