Severe Tip & Tuck played yesterday

Recommended Posts

I've played in about 6 tip and tucks but the one at my home course yesterday was brutally tough. Grind city. ... And we had minimal wind and temps were balmy for November at 50*F

Format: You need a combined index of 24 plus a pro. It was me and another 4 indexer, a 16 capper and our Director of Golf (who's a ball striking Jessie)

Our second 4 index is a big man, former professional hockey enforcer, that hits it over 3 hundred all day. (Though the winning team had a guy that is 330-350 when he nuts it)

We managed to get to minus 2 and we finished 6th. One team got to -6 (they had 4 putts back into the hole)

Course is a shade under 7,000, rated 74.5 and 145. Two cups were the 10" size

We were cruising at minus 3 and then 5 putted our 8th hole of the day (the eighteenth). Which we followed up by 3 jacking our 1st hole. Took the wind out of our sails.

Though I did have a buddy start on 1 and they six putted. That makes for a long 6 hr round ! (you play in 8-somes due to the cash involved)

The pins were so severe that if you missed a birdie putt you were often left with a 20 footer for par. This was on 14 of 18 holes. There were only 4 greens where you could leave a ball within 3 feet of the hole

Anyone have any good stories about events like this?

There is a local big cup event at a links style course where some of the flags look like they weren't put in correctly. I can't seem to find any pictures but they are basically sticking out the of the side of the hills on the greens. There are several greens where if you don't make the putt you are back at your feet if short and off the green down a 20' hill.

Played in 4 man teams, play as scratch with 1 pro allowed, and play as 8s, also because of the money involved.

Winning teams will come in at around even par, though they have a scramble event using very similar spots that the winning teams will come in at -12 to -15.

I have been on the winning team twice as well as being on the winning team for the scramble. It really all comes down to how well you can leave yourself on the greens (or sometimes off of them) to have a chance at making putts. It's one of my favorite fall events (they both are) and will be playing in them both for as long as I am able to or the event is still going on.

Pardon my ignorance, what is a tip and tuck?
[/quote] Tees all the way back, pins in spots they normally wouldn't be (a pace or two on, on a ridge). Sometimes known as an ironman

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
