Bioswing Dynamics/EA Tischler/Mike Adams/Mark Hackett

Hey guys,

First time posing something on GolfWRX, just a few questions. I am a college player, got to a +2 this past summer, and want to someday pursue my goal of playing professional golf. I've been working with an instructor in Minnesota who is associated with the EA Tischler/Mike Adams school of thought and was drawn to it because of:

1) idea of tailoring swing to individuals body

2)science based

3)lower injury risk

4) develop a swing identity that I can hopefully own someday

with that said, I was "fit" into being a front post player by my instructor and, while I have had some success with it in the past, I've really struggled recently. I also got a lesson from EA Tischler this past May and while I hit the ball awesome for the first 2-3 weeks (shot my low round of summer, 64) really struggled the rest of the summer. Recently I got a lesson by a random instructor in my area in Florida who suggested I move more weight into my right side in the backswing, as keeping it on the left side was causing me to get stuck and hit pushes/hooks. Thoughts on that point? Here are the questions...

1)what are your opinions of Bioswing dynamics/any experience with these instructors?

2) front post/"stack and tilt" thoughts? specifically getting stuck on downswing?

3) recently heard Brandel Chamblee criticize "The Golfing Machine" which this is based off of. Valid criticism?

4) any thoughts on Mark Hackett as an instructor? I was recommended by my instructor back home in MN to see him and he is right by my college.

Thanks, appreciate any feedback.

When I got my lesson with EA we didn't go into how front anchor I was (3 hour lesson, driving back from school in spring, met him at Inverness...lot packed into a short amount of time). Side on swing path, cornering extension, in between torso and shoulder downswing plane, and mid/high backswing track.

It's been frustrating because my coach back home (also bioswing dynamics certified) has measured me differently in a few areas...he recently talked to Tischler/Adams and they recommended Mark Hackett. Heard good things about him. Tisch is only about a half hour away from me now so I might pay him another visit and clarify some things.

I worked with Mike 2 seasons ago and had very similar results. During lessons and for about 2 weeks following I would stripe everything....then it seemed to fall apart. Funny thing is, I've heard this exact same story from about 5 other guys who have also spent time with him. Strange but seems to be the pattern.

Despite the fact that we've parted ways I still highly endorse Mike, I think he's a very, very knowledgeable instructor with the best eye for swing issues I've come across. Add to that the fact that he is very easy to schedule with and can accomodate you and he's a very good choice if the shoe seems to fit.

I never got to work with Mark but Mike did tell me that I should go seem him when he had to go up to Hamiton for the summer. My work schedule began to get in the way so I never got the chance but I'd bet money that he's almost equally as good. Just a hunch I get from taking Mikes word though....

The main reason I stopped seeing him was one that you brought up.....getting stuck. My new teacher immediately identified it as a major issue that I needed to correct because my path was getting close to 9 degrees in to out coming down and my only chance was hitting a hard hook and hoping I got my timing right, otherwise I'd overcook it or leave the face open and hit a high block. No bueno. While I'm making solid strides to narrow down the path issue, I still believe that this method will work for some.....just not all. I suppose you could say that for every swing method but what it really comes down to is your confidence level standing over the ball, and your ability to execute under pressure. If you feel like the advice you're getting is improving those two aspects, keep at it. Otherwise, bring it up with them and discuss options.

Hope this helps some, feel free to PM if you want to talk more

It is not unusual for golfers to improve dramatically and play extremely well for a while, followed by either over or under doing something and then struggle. For example, golfers that are Front Anchor golfers often start believing they need to keep their pressure on the front foot during the backswing. Front Anchor is a balance alignment, not a pressure distribution. Whether Rear, Center, or Front Anchor we still want to see a pressure shift from front foot to rear foot in the backswing, unless some specialty shot is being performed. I often find it interesting that when a golfer plays their best golf doing what was coached, why wouldn't they return to that coach when things are off? Return for clarification, review, or whatever is needed to get back to playing in the manner that created the great golf. Almost every touring professional has a regular coach of some sort. I've worked with touring professionals that tell me if they take a few days off, weeks off, months off, they lose their feel and need some help to get it back. And they tell me they have always been that way, their whole careers, long before they met me. When coaching a student into the mode of playing their best golf there are always things that are simply happening when the golfer comes to see you. They are doing many things that they aren't aware of. However they are doing them, or they are happening. The coach helps the golfer improve. If one of those things that was happening goes away when the student is off training on their own, however they continue to do what they were coached to do, they may start playing worse. Not because of what they were coached to do, but because of what was happening and stopped happening. The long term goal is to truly understand your total swing package, and your total method of play. Being self sufficient means going through some of those periods that reveal what the golf was doing, but unaware of how important those aspect were/are to the golfers method of play. The fact is, everything can not be learned at once, and when coaching you can only, effectively, coach a couple of aspects, or influences, at a time.

BioSwing Dynamics works!

Just had Mike Adams, Dr Scott Lynn, and Terry Rowles deliver a 5-Day Teach the Teacher School to an enthusiastic Group of Australian PGA Professionals at Moonah Links Golf Club here on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia.

In reading the prior posts here, I can only endorse what Mike, EA, and their BioSwing Dynamics Team have put together here. As students of golf we all need regular coaching and therefore there is no excuse for trying to figure it all out by yourself when the wheels fall off - Go to a mechanic - a BioSwing Dynamics Mechanic (Coach) and get a re-alignment and repair or replace any damaged parts!

The Aussie School at Moonah Links

18 professionals and 7 amateurs attended and the least increase in clubhead speed for a 7 iron and or driver was 5 mph. When this increase in power for every student who first tests to find their own best swing can be achieved for each student who attended, this is a significant result and in my time as a player and coach is a first.

My own experience saw a 10 mph increase in clubhead speed for the driver - thought there might be some interest in seeing how Mike and Terry and our Aussie Pros deliver such results for their students
