Time to turn the camera around and take a selfie. The image was taken by the crew of Apollo 17 on December 7, 1972. The astronauts were on there way home from the Moon at a distance of 18,000 miles.

The Voyager 1 spacecraft took this shot of Earth and the Moon on September 18, 1977. It’s the first view of the two bodies in isolation within a single frame. Voyager 1 was 7.25 million miles from Earth at the time.

The large spiral galaxy, NGC 3227 engaged in a gravitational tug of war with elliptical galaxy NGC 3226. The two, also known as Arp 94, are relatively close, between 50 and 60 million light-years away in the constellation Leo.

The globular cluster Terzan 9 in the constellation Sagittarius, toward the center of the Milky Way. Globular clusters are stable, tightly bound groups of tens of thousands to millions of stars.

Cassini snaps a pic of Saturn's largest moon Titan, along with Dione. Back in 2005 the Huygens probe landed on the surface of Titan, sending photos of its decent along the way.

Galaxy cluster Abell 1351 is located ~4 billion light-years away in the constellation of Ursa Major. It contains roughly 100 galaxies. The streaks of light are the result of gravitational lensing, the bending of spacetime caused by the mass of the cluster, that affects the light passing through the cluster.

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory captures a partial solar eclipse on June 29th. The Moon covered 67% of the Sun, and its mountains were backlit by the Sun.

Stephan’s Quintet is located 290 million light-years away in the constellation Pegasus. It was the first compact galaxy group ever discovered in 1877.

Thousands of galaxies – including the faintest objects ever observed in the infrared – have appeared in Webb’s view for the first time. This slice of the vast universe covers a patch of sky approximately the size of a grain of sand held at arm’s length by someone on the ground.

This deep field, taken by Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam), is a composite made from images at different wavelengths, totaling 12.5 hours – achieving depths at infrared wavelengths beyond the Hubble Space Telescope’s deepest fields, which took weeks.

Captured in infrared light by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, "Cosmic Cliffs" is the edge of a nearby, young, star-forming region NGC 3324 in the Carina Nebula. It is located 7,600 light-years away in the southern constellation Carina.

The Southern Ring Nebula, NGC 3132, is located 2,500 light years away. The diameter of the cloud of gas and dust in this planetary nebula is 1/2 light-year.

The emission nebula Caldwell 27 (NGC 6888), the Crescent Nebula, is the result of shockwaves originating from the Wolf–Rayet star WR 134. It is 5,000 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus.
