Just ordered Titleist VG3

I just ordered my Titleist Vg3 Irons 4-P with Nippon Modus 120x. I am coming from Titleist 714 AP2's but looking for a little more forgiveness. I am hoping I made the right choice so if anyone has played both please chime in. Also ordered Some Vokey Cold Forged Wedges to finish out the bag, adding Nippon WV115's shafts to those. Hoping the gaps line up correctly.

Never "played" both but have hit them. I think you will like them. The VG3s are significantly more forgiving imo.

I switched from AP2 to VG3 5 years ago.

I am ordering the same VG3s (5-P). What lofts are you getting for the wedges? After driver, 3-wood, 3 and 4 hybrid and putter, I have 3 wedges to get.

I'm used to a 56 sand and 60 lob, but could go 58 for lob instead.

How are you going to fill the gaps with such a strong PW?

I ordered mine 2* weak and went with 50/54/60. I am hoping I like them but we will see. They are jacked up lofts so I went back a little as I have already picked up a club distance with the modus I didn't wanna jump 1.5 clubs in length. Also went with Nippon wv 115 shafts for the 3 vokey cold forged wedges I have, hoping it's gonna be a sweet setup.

It sounds like you're not worried about distance. I'm a fairly 'smooth' swinger and don't get a ton of club head speed so I left the lofts as is. I'll probably be hitting everything farther as I should given the lofts vs my 15-year old Pings and the heavy shafts in those clubs. What did it for me was the fact that they were just as soft as the Kuros (maybe softer) and a lot easier to hit. Hit the middle and the ball melts. Hit off center a bit and you don't get punished too much in the hands or with distance. Not bad...good luck.
