I dont like to criticize other peoples likes dislikes in vintage sticks but personally ive always thought green just doesnt work on classic blades
[/quote]

Especially when it's Kermit Green, right? It looks to me like the arrow on these did have some sort of green fill originally (and I think the Bounce Sole models have some green), but I think I just bought the wrong shade. I might try blue instead...

A little black mixed in with the green should calm it down if it's too bright for you.

I agree, but I think this was a standard colour usage late 60s early 70s on some Hogan irons ?

At least, I have a fairly minty half set of Round Soles with clear original green paint fill on the Hogan signature .. underneath the model name in red :)

I like Eidolon's idea of trying it in Black, or maybe even have IPT in Black and the line/arrow in red ( "redline" is always good on the back of a Hogan blade lol)

Wow, thanks so much for the shot of your Round Sole. That's actually the red-green combo I was thinking of, though it does look a little odd to see the Hogan logo in green. I definitely need to darken my green a bit.

Think the original scheme is as per the pic below, but of course I've got the Slazenger stamping to deal with too.

And here I thought that the Slazenger Ben Hogans were predominately Black paintfill; they came out of the UK.
The number and Ben Hogan are black on my 1972 Hogan Edge irons - 2 to 9. The sunburst is gold including the BH.
The Edge is red and there are dash lines on either side that are gold. The Slazenger on the sole close to the heel has no fill.
The shaft bands are identical to others here, #4.
Different years get different schemes I guess.

Blade-

What irons are you missing from your "minty half set" of Round Soles?

Use whatever you like. They are your clubs! Paint them pink if you feel like it.

I think the green looks fine.

Yeah - I like red and green together, just think I maybe have the wrong shade of green.

Steve-

From my sets of Ben Hogans, the green is more "Masters jacket" green than the "Kermit" green.

But this is your set of clubs....Do whatever you like.

I'm in New Zealand, so I think these probably came out of the Dunlop/Slazenger factory that used to be in Wellington.
Slazenger Hogans are relatively common in these parts. I also have a set of Swingweight Pluses that have the same head shape as Precisions and another set that is pretty much identical to the Percussion Centres from the 60s.

Oh, the Kermit green is just wrong. Masters green is a much better description!
