What tourneys can I play in my situation?

Hi.

I am a former asst. pro (not PGA certified) who no longer works in the golf industry, and live in New York. I played in a few tourneys while I was asst., so no longer have amateur status. I am still interested in playing in tournaments. However, I am not looking to apply for amateur reinstatement, because in the event I play well, I would like to get some $$$ lol.

I now work in the corporate world, and with the vacation time I get, three tournaments a year would be the perfect amount for me.

Finding two tournaments is no issue - US Open qualifier and NY State Open. It's finding the third one that is proving to be difficult.

The Met Open and Westchester Open, if you are a pro, require you to be either employed at a course, or a member at one of their courses. I am not a member anywhere, just public golf for me. I do caddy weekends, but was told by the associations this does not make me eligible.

So I guess my question is...as a "professional golfer" in New York not employed in the industry and not a member at any clubs, what other options do I have outside of the US Open and NY State Open?

There should be plenty of mini tour events in your area, right? Have you looked into that?

Not sure how far you are from CT but the Connecticut Open is being held at the Patterson Club in Fairfield.

have you considered traveling? usually the new hampshire, maine, and bangor opens are held in a 2-3 week stretch up here. decent payouts for higher finishes.

Thanks guys...I've looked into the Connecticut Open but you have to be a resident of CT or a pro/member of one of their clubs.

I will check into the Opens you mentioned Evan and see if they have similar restrictions, thanks.
