my first attempt at a refinish

so this is my first attempt at an iron refinish. i personally am very happy with the results but please let me know if you have any suggestions. These Clubs ar entering their 5th season! I tried something new with the paint fill and used a touch up paint pen from Auto zone. Very easy to do that way.

Wow. Looks good man. What did you use as the abrasive?

thanks manship. i used a wirewheel (medium) then a fine grit sand paper. then used 2 different buffing sticks.

thanks taylormade. if anyone has mre questions i can let you knkow more details on how. i spent a total of $32 for equipment to do entire set (actually my father in law bought everything but you get the idea). took the 2 of us about 6 hours to do on saturday. i also purchased a groove sharpener from Wildwilly ($19) and these baby's are like new. im not sure how much it would be to send clubs back to be regrooved and refinished but i did a set of 8 for $50.

I haven't looked around to much in this section, but I know it would be great if someone would post a "how to" to accomplish what you did with these clubs (materials, etc.)

a very quick step by step description would be awesome - nothing too detailed, just an overview. i have done some work with putters and general re-shafting/re-gripping, and would like to refinish a couple sets of irons i have sitting around. any insight would be appreciated.

I second the request for a short 'how to'. I tried to refinish a TM RAC CB and ended up with a sort of dulled out shine that doesn't look right (thankfully I only did the sole of one iron as a test spot). I would love to hear more about how you did it.

You guys that are talking about doing this need to remember that his irons are cast and yours are forged. It will not come out quite the same on forged irons.

Those 731's are cast?

The 731PM irons feature traditional V grooves and are investment cast with soft 431 stainless with an old style classic round profile and buff bright finish.

I would also like to know how you did that. Is that more of a stain or black nickel finish?
