Recommend a couple year old rangefinder

I am not looking for the newest, lowest spinning, hotmelted range finder.

 

I am looking to replace an old war horse. I walk the course a lot and don't baby a range finder. So I am looking for something smallish and durable. I prefer not to be distracted with too many extra features. I do like the pin recognition tech.

 

I got a 1500 for Christmas in 2005 and it just went kaput.

 

If I were to pick something off ebay or a sale rack, what models should I look for?

I have an old 1500 as well... the v3 that can be had for $211 is pretty much the same unit except for the lower magnification (5x vs 7x) and obviously the case is different. the v3 has jolt, that can be turned off if desired. but the functionality and look through the lens is pretty much the same.

the other option might be a gx3i2 (I had the earlier gx3 and gx3i), which is smaller, heftier feeling in hand but much smaller button, has red led numbers, bluish tint to the lens, and perhaps better warranty/cs. the gx1i2 might also be considered. usually I say go check em out and see what you prefer, but coming from a bushnell I think you might be happier sticking w that brand

I just picked up the GX1i2 and I am quite impressed. It's small & light, has 6x magnification (that's the lowest I will go), you can pick from 7 different reticles & it's completely waterproof. It picks up the distances very fast and according to the brochure will pick up flags up to 400 yards which for me if it's up to 300 is good enough. About the only thing I would say I'm not in love with is the display is in black and I would prefer red. The black isn't bad and hasn't bothered me, just red seems to contrast better to my eye.

I picked it up new on Ebay for $260 with free shipping!

Not used but near the prices being mentioned here is the Bushnell v3 jolt new for $275. I had the opportunity to use one recently and it's nice, simple and fairly small. It fit into the V shaped slot between the cup holders of a power cart. It's 5x magnification so that may or may not be good enough.

[color=#282828]FYI, that is the same one I mentioned. it can be had for 211 and changed from gg (see deals board). and I think it will fit inside the cupholder itself. really can't go wrong, esp given free shipping and ability to return to your local gg[/color]

I actually bought a used 1500 a 2 years ago for $70-ish i think off of ebay. Works great and couldn't imagine spending $200+ for a newer, smaller model. I love the fact it uses a 9 volt battery, too

My morning eyes missed that you mentioned the V3. For $211 that is a slam dunk of a deal!

I have a Bushnell V2 that still works great. Never had any issues with it. Quick and accurate.
