PING ANSER 2 stainless steel?

Hi,

 

Does any one know what type of metal the PING ANSER 2 in the photos below is made of?

 

It attracts a magnetic ever so slightly.

It looks like it is stainless. The nickel Anser 2 has gold paintfill.

The nickel version also does not have the lie angle dot in the back cavity. Yours does and it is painted black which should equate to 71* I believe.

I definitely will not. I love it too. I bought it a few years ago. Unfortunately,
the shaftband was gone when I bought it.

Does you guys happen to know what this one is made of (mag. bronze, ber. copper, other)?

That Anser 3 looks like manganese bronze.

The putters with the lie angle dot in the cavity are the later version. No clue when Ping started with the dot but is was a number of years since they were in general release.

Definitely Mag Brz. Vintage Anser 3's were not made in BeCu for sure. Not sure about SS, but I don't believe so.

Does anyone know the best way to clean and shine up these putters (the 17-4 stainless steel ANSER 2 and the
[color=#282828]manganese bronze ANSER 3)? Brasso, baking soda, etc?[/color]

I have one of the copper/brass colored one. When I got it it had a ton of oxidation and grime. I bought a 2 liter of coca cola, poured it into a bucket, and soaked the putter head in it for 24-36 hours and then washed it. Came out nice and shiny.

With so many classic putters, its hard to see the modern ones with non-metal materials.

It's steel like everyone said. Sometime in the early 2000's (I think) Ping changed the finish on their classic steel putters to what you have. Look at the old ones which are more of a tumbled look.
