Callaway X460 Tour driver

holy s&*t, look at the size of that thing.............how heavy is it? btw, the driver looks sweet.........maybe i should hold off on getting the bb454 and just get this driver when it comes out? bb454 is pretty cheap right now!

Played in the Golfweek/Callaway Pro-Scratch this week in AZ. Callaway had all of their clubs there. This new 460 driver is really,really good. I have not played with a Callaway driver since the BBs were out. But I may have one of these. It looks great sitting down, but the sound is even better.

Stopped by my home course for lunch while Callaway rep was there visiting my club pro. He let me try out X 460 tour 9.5* w/26.3 stiff shaft and it's really a nice driver. At address, I thought they look so much better than FT-3 and 454 drivers. I only hit 6 balls due to my lack of time and all of them went very nice with high ballflight due to 26.3 shaft.

 

I also hit few putts with new Tri Ball SRT putter and I believe that it will sell well. I thought it rolled nicely. Callaway will have Dual Ball SRT putter but the rep did not have it with him. Sorry for no pics of the putter since I was short on time.

 

There's a new version of Big Bertha irons that will fit to mid-higher handicap players. Looks very radical but should be a forgiving irons for that crowd.

 

I only took pics of X 460 driver and here it is. I know there's pics of them somewhere here but I can't find it.

It's a nice looking driver, I have seen it with my own eyes, I must say I did not hit it but, I like the looks of the FT-3Tour more.

The local Callaway rep. said this club is a replacement for the BB 454, therefore it should sell for around $300. If this club outperforms the FT-3, you will find it in Annika and Phil's bag. I would be very surprised to see either player change their current driver, but time will tell.

The "longest all-Titanium driver Callaway has produced". What does that tell you ??? Cally are catering to the folk who must have 460 but don't want composite.

 

It may perform quite well however it won't be as long as the Ft-3.... Ask Cally, it's in their advertising !!!!

Yeah, about Phil...he said the FT-3 is the first driver he has had that he just CAN NOT snap hook...which is a good thing!

I am not 100% certain but if it is anything like other companies (such as Ping G5 hybrid) it is a tiny hole so that after production the plasma weld can be viewed by a tiny camera.

Alot of people have said early that the x460 was a very loud tinty sound. Maybe the little heal plug is there to mute the sound alittle???

I recently hit the 460 tour and have to agree it is not much of an upgrade from the 454. I also used a demo srt tri-ball for a round ,and believe or not, I did not 3 putt and made a couples of birdies with it. On the other hand, I just do not think I could putt with it day in and day out, it is freakin huge! I would much rather the 2 ball, but for now I'll stick with my Scotty!
