I dont understand why tour pros use Vokey PW's, but wrxers don't

Never liked Vokey wedges. I am quite enamored with the TM TP wedges though.

For what it's worth, I have a P & U of my irons, and a 50 wedge. Technically, the U and the 50 are the same, but they aren't. The spin and flight characteristics are different, and mostly because I have different shafts in them. Sometimes I use one, the other, or both depending on the day, dropping the 3-iron. When you have a max shot, the wedge can go particularly high. Max shot on the U is lower by about 5 degrees, longer by 3-5 yards carry, and rolls out more.

So to say, why don't more ams use a 46º wedge? It's either habit to buy down to the pitch/45-ish, or because people tend to not feel too strongly. Maybe they generally don't like hitting a Vokey full-out? My main problem would be that if I were a Titleist-only player, the wedge with an appropriately upgraded S400 would cost more and be no easier than a PW. However, I think it's habit more than anything else. #10iron

I use a 46 deg SM5 in my set. 2 reasons, 1) still using 712 CB's and the wedge was really worn. Grooves were getting slim, had to replace it but didn't want to replace the irons. Everything else is good. and 2) my cb wedge was 47 degrees, I replaced it with a 46 deg sm5 and that helped a lot on my wedge gap. Picked up about 5 yds over the cb wedge. Plus have found on 80-110 yd shots, the sm5 is a ton better because of the grind. Wish I had changed it years ago.
