Graphite Design YS-7 vs. YS-6

Any opinions on the difference in feel?

I have had experience with the YS-6 shaft, but for my new driver I wanted to get a shaft that was heavier in weight. After looking at the GDI website, I noticed that the YS-7 seems to be a much stiffer tip and lower flight than any other shaft in their families. Does anyone have any experience with the feel of the shaft, and how it handles? I am looking for hte playability of the YS-6 but in a heavier weighted shaft. Looking for any advice here...

I totally agree, they are two different shafts, you would think the YS-7+ is the heavier version of the YS-6+, but its not. I was in the same search as you and a fitter told me to try the Aldila NVS (orange) in a 75 or the Fujikura 27.3. I went with the NVS in the 75 and it was the right choice. It's a heavier YS-6+ in my opinion.

you could consider adding lead tape under the grip, beneath the grip (on the shaft) or above the ferrule/hosel if you wanted to increase the weight but maintain the playing characteristics of the YS-6+.

Yes... the two shafts are more like cousins. The Purple Ice and Pershing series are a "true family". One should note how popular and successful the YS-6 and YS-7 have been for like the past 8 years. Still tons of dudes on tour playing YS-6, YS-7, Purple Ice, YS Power, GAT, and now Pershing. GDI's progression in shaft design has certainly adjusted to today's technology improvements. And the oringinals still perform for most golf swings. Seriously, many of us are taught to "swing" the club and be "smooth" right? It's no wonder YS still performs.
