Replacement for Wilson Staff FG Tour Yellows

I played Wilson Staff FG Tour's for years, but now they've discontinued the yellow version. 'Not sure why. They were long and soft.

 

If you played these, what did you switch to? Chrome Soft? I'm looking for the same soft feel. Don't like the Volviks or Srixons, as they feel like rocks.

I'm with you. Those might be my favorite ball ever.

I'm sure most people will say Chrome Soft yellows, though I haven't hit them myself.

I got some Srixon ZStar yellows and inexplicably always played terrible with them. I know it's not the ball -- I've been a big Srix fan for many years and the ZStar is obviously used on tour -- but it just didn't work for me for some reason.

If you're looking specifically for a yellow ball, then Chrome Soft is really the only option.

It is too bad that Bridgestone doesn't make the RXS in yellow. I find that it plays similar to the FG Tour.

While it's not urethane, I really enjoy the top flight gamer in yellow. It goes a decent job green side and the feel is soft, especially off the putter. Plus it's a solid deal. I too really enjoyed the fg tours- this is my budget fg tour so to speak....

Give the Fifty Elite a whirl. You'll be surprised at the spin, which for me was most noticeable in my irons.

At 50 compression, isn't it a bit too low?

A yellow low compression tour ball are still tough to come by. Absolutely. It's definitely low compression, but was trying to expand his search a bit.

Have you ever played the Z Star SL? It's discontinued but can still be found on eBay. It's a low compression(80) urethane ball. Just not in yellow(I don't think?)

Why not just order more of the same at Golf Galaxy online right now while you can? $34 per dozen after current 15% off code is applied.

Thanks for the heads-up. I couldn't find them anywhere. I just ordered 4 dozen, which should tie me over for a while. 'Still have to find a long term replacement, though.

Try the Wilson Spongebob ball .... it Yellow...its Wilson...and it really, really is long

no spin or feel...but long and fun

(on the 1st tee at the Muni tournament....yes...I'm playing a Wilson with Spongebob)

I picked up a sleeve this week, and I'll give them a whirl today.

Two rounds with the Chrome Soft, and it's not for me. On a positive note, the ball is 5 to 10 yards longer. Unfortunately, this is bad when you're trying to hit a 135 yard 9 iron to a back pin location, and it goes 145 and over the green. By itself, this isn't a bad thing, as one can redial in their iron distances. However, it has very little spin compared to the Wilson or ProV1. Shots that would normally check up carried 5 yards past the ball mark. Again, no good.

I think I'll stick with the Wilson.

Had the same results. The ball lacks bite. Disappointing, because I really liked the feel and wanted to keep playing it.

However, for a guy who over-spins his wedges, it could be a great ball.

I have yet to find a replacement for the FG Tour.
