Club Champion Question

Just wanted to know everyone's opinions of the Club Champion in Willowbrook. The fitter that I used for many years unfortunately has moved out of state, and I am looking for a new one. Also heard good things about Mistwood and Cog Hill, just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts both positive and negative.

I have always been reluctant on indoor fittings but gave it a go there with my driver and woods. Turned out to be a really good experience and I was happy with the results.

My mother told me if you haven't got anything good to say, then don't say anything at all. However, the two times I was fitted there, it never rained at all.

I'm curious, my experience with them so far has been great and trackman has really proven my doubts about indoor fittings...it was very accurate to what I see out on the course.

The only negative I would throw out there is the cost of having them build a set. My driver and 3 wood heads were good and not going to be replaced but the two shafts came out to almost $600 if they were to do the work, I ended up doing it myself for about half. The entire hybrid needed to be replaced and again I was able to do it for half. Of course I'm not totally sure that's a negative, that's more just the cost of them getting the equipment and doing the work because after all they do have to keep their doors open some how.

It was probably about 4 or 5 years ago and I went in there for a driver, woods and iron fitting. Unfortunately, being a lefty, there was unexpectedly a limited amount of options. Lots of shafts but at the time, very limited club/head selections overall. We only got through about half the fitting when I was asked to come back in a few months when the selections would be better. Came back, not much different. Overall, it was underwhelming. For a righty, it would probably have been much different. I did end up reshafting my existing 3 wood and hybrid which improved those clubs to some degree but at a huge expense.

I have been to Club Champion 3 times: the first for a driver fitting, second was wedges, and third was a putter. All 3 were great experiences that quite frankly were a lot of fun. The driver is still in play for the second season and highly likely will be again next year. The cost was ridiculous though. The wedge fitting was the most helpful for me. The fitter tried to sell an upgraded shaft to match my irons but I declined and bought the stock wedges that I was hitting so well on Trackman - this was not any more expensive than any retail shop except I had them stamped. The putter fitting I primarily did because I was curious about the SAM Lab. I did not buy the recommended putter but my gamer was adjusted a bit. The cost was roughly equivalent to a lesson and I put it more in the 'entertainment' category. I am considering an iron fitting prior to next season.

Thanks for all the insight guys, debating whether to still go there, or get fit at Mistwood or Cog Hill. My only concern is the high cost, most fittings that I have done in the past have only had a small mark up, but, from everyone that I have spoken to about Club Champion, it seems that their mark up is pretty high. Still considering my options though, really only looking to do irons and wedges this year.

there is no mark-up per se at Club Champion, they just charge you full price for everything you buy.

A full bag fitting will run you $350, then if you buy a driver that's $400 with a shaft that's $400 you are playing $800 plus small building fee. It's more expensive because if you order the club from the manufacturer they usually just have an upcharge for the exotic shaft option (difference between the stock and one you order.) With that said, many of the shaft options Club Champion use are not available at the manufacturer. I'm not sure if that is the plan of theirs or a coincidence. They fit alot of people into Accra & Veylix shafts for example, which are awesome shafts, but you can't get those through most manufacturers so you basically have to buy through Club Champion at that point.

They normally have a fitting special in December for $150 for a full bag. I did this last year in December, and honestly, it was worth $150 for the fun of it. It was snowing out and spring was nowhere to be seen, it was awesome to spend 4 hours testing clubs. I bought irons and a driver at full sticker price, I still love both after a full season.
