App for live tournament scoring with leaderboard?

I am looking for an app with live scoring and leaderboard for tournaments. Each player enters their score as the tournament progresses.... Any suggestions or recommendations?

I took part in a 28 man Ryder Cup style tournament at my club this weekend and we used Golf GameBook for live scoring

Have to say it worked really well. Just needed one person in each flight to input the scores and then we got a full Ryder Cup style Red/Blue scoreboard.

For testing purposes we also used it for a 6 man stableford tournament the day before and it was great to see the updates as you went round and was easy to switch between Netto/Brutto leaderboards.

For a free app we were all very impressed.

Isn't using mobile phones prohibited on tournaments? Not only because of etiquette but specifically because it's not allowed to use different apps on it? That was one of the reasons why gadgets like Game Golf showed up (so you can use GPS without touching your phone during tournament for example)

I've been testing this app for sometime now. Pretty impressed so far.

I "organized" a group of 20-30 guys every sat and sun through golfgamebook. It was great but they are shutting down their android app on april 18, 2016. My problem is 80% of us have an android phone. It is frustrating because I was a huge advocate of theirs and now will be going elsewhere. That leaves me with this question...any other recommendations.

No phones are allowed as long as you don't use any non-conforming applications. There has been a change in the rules this year that you can use Smartphone GPS apps even though the smartphone has e.g. a compass as long as the app isn't using the compass or offers other non-conforming advice such as what club to use etc.

So I've tried using Vpar which visually looks fantastic but it's very unreliable.

 

Golfgamebook looks excellent but with a lot of android users this may not work.

 

Are there any other apps out there?

Just used this app "iwanamaker" for the first time today, really awesome! I am using this for the future.

We used it for 2 groups of 4 players today. It is free for up to 24 golfers, paid after that.

 

Setup is done on their website, both iphone and android support is available while playing the round.

It was really easy to setup the game, you can also setup your information for the round and local rules if any and distribute to all golfers via email through the application. You can select the courses you are playing and which tees you want to play.

 

Each group can enter their score while playing and live leader board is available.

 

Has live leader board, supports handicaps for gross and net scoring.

Has support for skins, which we didn't try.

Has support to update GHIN directly, which we didn't try.

It also has support for leagues, playing over multiples courses, if anyone wants to give that a try and report back.

My league uses Golf Genius. Very flexible - can run just about any game and side bets you can conjure up.

I have to second (or third, I guess) The Grint. Really, really fantastic app that allows you to set up live leaderboards/tournaments, play various games within those tournaments, utilize GPS for yardages, and track all your stats to a pretty robust app/website. The best feature of all is that they will assign you to a local club so that you can be issued an OFFICIAL handicap card. I can't tell you how useful this feature was when I went to play in a tournament last weekend and needed to provide my most recent handicap.

 

If anyone is using something similar to this, or has had equally positive experiences with The Grint - let me know! I'm always on the hunt for the best technology.
