Newport National Golf Club, one of New England’s finest golf courses, sold to Combined Properties, Inc.

 

Combined Properties, Inc. purchased the 350 acre Newport National Golf Club on Aquidneck Island, including the award-winning Orchard Golf Course which originally opened in 2002. “We are very excited to announce the purchase of Newport National Golf Club. As a golf enthusiast and resident of the community I was thrilled when this rare opportunity presented itself.” said John M. Pereira, President.

Couldn't care less about a clubhouse. Keep it a trailer to keep costs down.

I thought it was supposed to be 27 holes and pick your 2 9s. There's not enough room across the street for another 18.

 

I do agree with a clubhouse, but it doesn't have to be anything extravagant.

 

Speaking of which, anyone wanna play Sunday? Thinking about grabbing a tee time for the morning if any available.

I agree with you, I have no idea where they will put it. But originally it was supposed to be 36 -

Talked to the bar tender after playing on Saturday morning. He said the order of priority is 1) driving range across the street, 2) new club house, 3) initial 9 across the street, with room for 9 more.

Was supposed to play here Saturday, looks like we're going to postponed a week. Sigh.

Nahhh. Didn't get that much snow on the island. I think it will be mostly gone by the time Sat rolls around. Maybe 1-2" at most here (on the island). I can see grass poking out through the snow already. It may be cold.... but there shouldn't be any snow remaining by the time Sat rolls around.

 

I'm supposed to play Poquoy Brook Saturday... and they got a lot more snow than here. :)

FYI, from the time I typed the above and now, almost 2 hour later, the same acre or so of lawn I referenced with "grass poking out" is now about 25% uncovered.

 

With warmer temps, and rain expected Thursday, you're not going to have to worry about any snow remaining on Saturday. And NN drains REALLY well.

Just got a call from my brother telling me that we may have to play somewhere else for our annual Easter Sunday round. They used to have reduced rates before and after "season". It is now $125 for Easter Sunday.

We've gone there four or five years running for Easter and day after Thanksgiving golf - always at reduced rates. Hopefully this fall they will reduce the rates.

Easter fell outside of Shoulder Season this year. Still worth 125 for an Easter round in the 80* temps
