Nikon coolshot20 vs Bushnell medalist

I haven't found anything comparing these two rangefinders and wanted to see everyone's opinion about the two. They're the older models, which I prefer but seeing if anyone's had problems? Longevity of the rangefinder? Customer service? Etc.

 

I've recently returned my GPS watch (literally tried them all) and now want to get a basic, no mess, workhorse rangefinder.

I don't have the bushnell so can't speak for it. However I've been using the nikon coolshot 20 for about a year.

 

Pro:

- Super small and lightweight - I sometime put it in my backpocket and forget that it's even there. This is coming from someone who can't standing having an extra ball in my front pocket.

- Simple to use - press once to turn on, press again to get yardage. nothing more, nothing less. Locks on to the pin easy enough even with trees behind it. Comes with a discreet black pouch that I leave strapped to the exterior of my golf bag. Most people would glance over it

- Accurate - As accurate as any other rangefinders out there. anything under 250yd is accurate enough.

- Value - Purchased for $110 on ebay last year. It's still working on strong

 

Cons:

- Super small and lightweight -Because it's so small and light sometime you do get a little more shaky if your hands aren't on the sterady side. but I've gotten used to it and barely notice it. Does not affect/delay me getting accurate yardage

- no pin seeking - Depends if that's important for you. For me it's just gimmicky because if I feel you would know approximately how far away you are and if you're getting really conflicting yardage you know it wasn't "pin sought"

- white - Looks good with the white exterior brand new. Still does after a year, however I just wonder how long it'll take before it starts getting dirty and yellow. But for what it's worth, after a year it still looks bright white and easy to wipe.

What do you mean "no pin seeking?" I have a Nikon 20 and it has first target priority (pin seeking). I can wave it over a flagstick with trees behind and it gives me the flagstick yardage instead on the trees. I've only had mine a short time but it has worked fine - fast, accurate, small, and waterproof. Plus it cost half of what a Bushnell would have cost.

Thanks fellas... this makes my decision very easy. Have had some bad experiences with bushnell. Didn't want to go back to that route.
