I missed the seat when I first looked at this. Do you use it, and if so, how sturdy is it.

It had its first ride out to the driving range tonight. I actually did use the seat for a bit since there were no chairs on the range. Very sturdy and I am about 220. That cart is heavy to move in and out of the car, but really nice cruising around the course. Should be nice on a slow, hot round here during the summer.

NICE! Do me a favor, post a picture of back of your 75 apex. I swear mine are frosted back but serial number says 76'. I am confused...

I was just guessing on the '75 part, but I am pretty sure I am not too far off. I had always heard that only the '73 Apex were frosted on back and the rest of the Apex up to '78 were shiny. The serial number on the 2 iron is L69232. I am very interested in figuring out how you read these serial numbers so please let me know!

Per another thread

"You have to be careful with identifying the 70s hogan apex. There are similar heads some with frosted backs or matte finish almost a sand blasted or bead blasted finish on the back, or there are shiny backs or polished chrome not frosted. There is a group 1973 to 1975 and another group 76 to 78. See attached pics. Hope this helps! Iron finder .com has great pics and dates for hogans"

Bag Boy-Aircraft grade Aluminum. Lifetime Warranty. Our Dad bought one of these nearly 50 years ago. He and his golfing friends all walked, and all had Bag Boys.

Older Brother got it when Dad left this world 15 years ago. It's been 10 years since Older brother left.

Got one less than two years ago from an estate sale, along with a number of other golf related items...

I think position 5 is flex and 6 is swing weight.

Mine are C68241. I know for fact mine are not lady flex. And with OP they didnt make a 2 flex. As far as I know, flexes are 1- ladies 3 - regular 4 - stiff 5- xstiff

Serial number decodes

With Apex shafts;

Pos 1: = month of yr (ex. B = Feb.)

Pos 2: = last digit of year (ex. 5 = 1975)

Pos 3-4: model # (ex. 77)

Pos 5: swing wt. (ie 3)

Pos 6: stiffness (ie 3 = reg)

I don't think this is correct based of serial numbers I have seen and knowledge of available flexes. My serial number on 76 Apex are C68241. I think positon 5 is flex and 6 is swing weight. OP serial number is L69232. They didnt make a 2 flex

I agree, my shafts are Apex 3's so I think the last two numbers are switched.

you are right my mistake. mine decode as feb 1977 model 92 a 4 flex (which matches the shaft label) and a 6 (d6 swing weight)

B779246

Op is a sept 77 model 92 # 3 flex d2 swing weight.

Yours s/b Mar 76 model 82 #4 flex D1 swing weight

No worries, ironfinder.com has it listed wrong. Can you tell me what model 82 is?

I recall buying new an automatic model of the Bag Boy back in 1989. Pretty expensive, cost $89.95 plus tax. A few years later, I bought several, maybe three, at yard sales, for under $5 each. I went minimalist back around year 2000, and gave away the Bag Boys I had. The thrift shops were chock full of Bag Boys. All the old boys were passing away, I guess.

I still have a Clubster from the 1960's in my basement, in case I ever decide to play a full set.

OP: Really nice kit. Your cart seems to date from the late 80's. It's an automatic, with the quick detach wheels. Looks like the same model I had. I used auto chrome polish to spiff mine up. The earlier models, the individual wheel assemblies used to have to be released and folded one at a time. The early models also had a medallion device on the handle to clip a lit cigarette.

The Bag Boy with the staff bag and full set of clubs were quite heavy, if I remember correctly. I recall guys beefing at me that the automatic I bought new used to squeak due to worn wheel bearings. The hub caps used to also clink when the cart moved. I actually spray painted one cart, the same color as my 1976 Royal Monaco.

As I grew older, walking with 5-7 clubs in a light Sunday bag is my preferred mode.

Thanks for all the information on this. I had thought it would have been older than that, but I did questions the quick release tabs on the wheels. I figured it had to be later than the 60's with that.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
