Anyone ever play elusive Morefar Back O Beyond?

Wondering if anyone here has ever been able to get into Morefar in Brewster NY. Kind of a mysterious club it's owned by AIG and borders a great public track Richter Park in CT. Supposed to be an awesome course with only a handful of rounds every season. I've honestly never seen anyone on the course. Google it if you've never heard of it it's an interesting study. Have always wanted to play but don't know how to get on

I grew up two towns away, so I know a few folks that have played it. Never myself.

There are quite a few statues on the course, including in a couple of bunkers (if I remember correctly). Kinda odd. Those that have played it said it was the best conditioned course they'd ever played though. Very few rounds are played out there.

I was fortunate enough to work there for a summer back in college. Since then I'll get invited once a year through a corporate affiliation. Below is a shot from the 15th tee

Played in a charity event there last fall. Simply appointed and completely immaculate. I played it in a shotgun format. One of the greenskeepers commented that more golfers would play that day than had played the course in the entire month leading up to our event.

Teed off on the 5th (?) hole, a short-ish par 4 where the drive is uphill and the approach comes back pretty sharply downhill. Misjudged how strong the wind was, and my 9 iron ended up in the front bunker behind a bronze statue of a woman kneeling over. Had to play out left of the green, chip on and two-putt. Double bogey as a result of the statue's placement. There are probably 10ish statues in greenside bunkers, some of which come into play more than others. Not a super-hard track, but definitely quirky, with some very fun holes.

While not accessible to those looking to just walk on, seems like they do host a decent number of outings there.

My father play a number of times as a guest of AIG, he still talks about it in glowing terms.

Sorry to bring back a thread from the dead... I search Morefar now and again just to see the stories about it and always see the same as above. If anyone is looking for a bit of history about the course, there is a book called Fallen Giant. It is about Hank Greenberg and his days at AIG. Chapter 10 is about Morefar. Not a long chapter but it has some good info in it and usually answers the question most have about the course. If you're a history buff outside of golf, research Mr. Greenberg himself. Worth the effort.

Note: it is not owned by AIG. It is owned by C.V. Starr and Co. This has always been a privately owned company, owned by Hank Greenberg after C.V. Starr's death.

Great suggestion, wil definitely pick up a copy. If anyone can get me out there this year I would be happy to bring you out to my club, Redding CC, about 20 min south, and is an awesome course. PM me if you can hook it up!

Yes, I have played multiple times. Fabulous course, with little play. Always a treat to play here. I actually have a print signed by the artist overlooking the hole where CV Starr is buried.

I did get to play it as a guest of AIG Aviation Insurance back in around 1996. Flew in on their private jet from Atlanta to White Plains, then a helicopter from there to the first tee. Picture Augusta National with carved stone immense statues scattered in the bunkers all around the course. I've played a lot of nice places but that was amazing. Got here today because I was looking to replace a hat I got there way back then. ......
