gluing weight on butt end to maintain SW?

Novice clubmaker here with a question for the experts. Current driver is 45", SW D0. If I cut down an inch, swingweight will become C6 (I think). If I want to get it back up to D0, I have to add lead tape to the head. The question is this: instead of adding lead tape to the head, will gluing some sort of weight on the inside part of butt end of the shaft that is equivalent in weight to the inch that I cut off, will this result in bringing the SW back up to D0? Appreciate any responses, thanks.

no swing weight is lost because of length, you need to add weight to head, actually you probably wont notice the drop in swing weight but the club will feel more solid

Swingweight will be closer to C4. Adding weight to the butt end will increase your total weight, but the swingweight scale will register even lighter.

 

Add weight to the head or find an ultralight (40g or less) grip.

Changing the grip to a lighter one will increase the swingweight but it will not change the resulting head feel that a heavier swingweight represents...

I would simply stick lead tape to the back or toe and heel of the driver head in a position where you can't see it at address. That's what I did to get my driver up to D3 at 44". Really no big deal, although you may need quite a bit of tape! As long as it is neutrally positioned and not visible at address, you are good to go.
