FT-5 Any comments Mr. Kwok?

Need help with my FT-5

I got fit on the Callaway tour van today. I specd out with a 9* draw FT-5 with a VS Proto 80 X-Stiff. The bad news was they did not have a VS Proto 80 X-stiff on the van. The good news is I bought the head and they gave me two ferrules, a regular (ribbed) and a tour (smooth). I have 3 questions about building up this driver.
1. I don’t know what the best position would be for the tour ferrule. Here is what he gave me:
• Install the arrow at the 3:00 position for neutral
• Install the arrow at 6:00 for open
• Install the arrow at 9:00 for flat
• Install the arrow at 12:00 for upright
The shaft I plan to install will be 45 ¾ inch long. What would be the best position for this ferrule or should I not mess with the tour ferrule and use the regular one?
2. There is an open hole in the body of the driver. Does this need to be filled with something?
3. Are there any tricks that should be done to the shaft before I install it (ie Pured)?

the open hole in the club head is for adding hot glue.

 

i would use the regular ferrule and sell the tour ferrule to someone willing to buy it.

What are the advantages and disadvantages to adding hot glue in the club head?

 

I took a quick measurement with a set of calipers and found that the regular ferrulel will accept a 0.350 tip and the tour will accept a 0.335 tip. If I use the ‘tour’ ferrule will I need a shim or just fill the bore with epoxy? How does a 0.335 tip shaft compare to a 0.350 tip in terms of feel, flex and stiffness?

Anyway, Lots of factors to calculate to build the club properly.

 

In this case you really have to spec all parts first before you can make any decision to build it the way you want it to be.

 

Without a proper tools, you will not gonna get it right IMO.

 

I wouldn't mess around if you don't have the tools if i were you, because if you made mistakes ...it will not gonna be a simple fix w/ FT5 heads to save head and shaft.

Make no mistake; I would never attempt to build this club. My goal is to do as much research as I can to make sure I get what is best for me. I would be happy with the VS Proto 80 shaft installed. But why just be happy when I could be delighted. I don’t know what these items would improve, that would be up to the local club fitter to decide if any, some or none are right for me, but I want to be knowledgeable when I talk to him. I don’t know that I fully trust the local club fitter either. I have actually been thinking about sending out my club head to be shafted.
