I think it was Taylor Smith.

Taylor Smith, 1996 Walt Disney World/ Oldsmobile Classic. Smith was disqualified during the final round for using a putter with an illegal grip. He played the final nine while appealing the decision, and his score would have put him in a playoff with Tiger Woods.

I think his competitor got dq'ed in a playoff at (disney maybe) for not having legal putter grips. I dont remember who it was. (Smith maybe)

It's ironic that Tiger was using an illegal putter in that tourney but he was not aware of it until after the tourney. Something about having a too long neck in his Scotty Cameron Tei3 putter. Had it replaced after winning Disney tourney.

It was Tiger that reported Taylor Smith for having an illegal putter grip. It's ironic that Tiger was using an illegal putter in that tourney but he was not aware of it until after the tourney. tIGER WAS NOT THE 1 THAT REPORTED HIM. iT WAS tAYLOR SMITH who got the DQ. I know his brother Hank, he has struggled ever since that day. Tigers putter was illegal too. Scottsdale Neck was too long. Taylors grip was a split grip and didnt comform to the rules. I cant remember who reported him but iyt DEFINETLY was NOT Tiger.

Ok, ok, you don't have to yell, I might be wrong and will have to research on this story. My memory isn't good as it used to be but I think that Tiger and Taylor was getting ready for the playoff or something like that when PGA officials was asked to look at his putter grip.

Edited: I was unable to find out who reported the illegal putter grip but found a story that said Taylor Smith did play the final 9 holes of the tournament while he appealed the PGA's decision. So I guess it's safe to say that I was wrong and have edited my earlier post.
