Having an issue with shafting.

 

Played a 910D2 for the last 4 years. Loved it. Diamana Ka'li S. Leaks out right when I loosen up and start to swing hard. But otherwise great distance and nice flight. SS before was pretty fast, maybe 117. Now, I have a knee injury and I'm 4 years older than the last time I was in a simulator for SS.

There are crappy pedestrian "simulators" here in the city in China which I live, and according to those, the ball speed off the face of the club on my "loosened up" swing is 73.3 meters per second, or 163.9 mph, which puts me at about 110-114 mph range I think if my math is correct.

So my dilemma is this. I bought a 915D3 here and it's shafted with a speeder 515 S. Feels like my driver is shafted with a pool cue. And I don't mean stiffness, I mean feel. Unresponsive. I hit it good, but I just don't get the feedback that I do with the Ka'li. I can feel every part of my swing arc with it but not the Speeder. I even went as far as putting in the 11 gr back weight to see if that would help, but no.

So I put the Ka'li into the 915 and will play a competitive round tomorrow morning here (tonight for you North Americans.) with it. I was hitting the combo at the range this morning and just hammering them. I was flying them 250, which is no mean feat because let me tell you, the golf balls are those range balls that float. My buddy has a rangefinder, we lasered a flag that I have to pound a 7 iron to at 146. On course, I routinely Use my 7 iron for 170-180. 185 if I step into it.

 

 

So I guess my question is this.

 

Is Diamana is one of the better shafts to use? Mny 915F is the Blue S+ 70, and I hit it stoopid far off the tee. I love that shaft....Can someone who plays the Diamana in their driver let me know how it feels and what your ball flight is? I can hit my three wood high and low and feels really solid no matter what I'm trying to do with it.

 

Some of you are probably thinking I should have gotten fit properly. Me too. But this is China. Fitters are few and far between. Working on seeing if a place in Beijing will do it for me. I'm a member of Titleist.ca so I'll be asking them to see what they can do for me as well

The speeder 515 is too light, and offers mid launch especially in that flex. The Ka'li is probably one of the better shafts ever offered into a Titleist driver. Now being that you have a 910, the shaft is the "made for version" but that doesnt take anything away from it. If you load heavy , think like an acute angle in your wrists when you backswing, than the Ka'li is great, the S+ is a good shaft as well, but not as heavy as you need it.
