Private Course Recommendations in Nashville

Friends and I are doing a trip to Nashville in early-Fall.

We've played Hermitage before and will likely hop down to northern-AL to play the RTJ down there.

As a member of a private club, I was hoping to take advantage of some reciprocity and have my club pro make some phone calls and try to get us a few rounds at some private tracks in the Nashville area. I'd like to keep it to a 90ish minute drive or less, but I was hoping some of you could recommend some private clubs worth calling to see if they'll let us on.

FWIW we are all ~0-2 handicap and love a challenging layout.

Golf Club of Tennessee and Olde Stone should be your first two calls IMO.

Ngac if you want a challenging layout. Requires you to hit every shot in the bag.

I played Richland Country Club years ago and enjoyed it. It has a good bit of elevation changes. Definitely try Golf Club of Tennessee.

It would be a little over an hour drive back towards Nashville, but Gil Hanse recently renovated the 9 hole course at Sewanee, and another 15 minutes past that is another great nine hole course called Sweetens Cove. Could be a fun day trip to play both of those if you're up for it.

In and around NASHVILLE, golf club of TN is the best, period. Hard for us non-private guys to ever get on but it's awesome. The Grove is a great place to play as well.

Appreciate the recommendations. These courses look sweet.

I'm going to have my head pro make some phone calls nearer the date and see if I can get lucky and score a few tee times. Anyone care to opine on the likelihood / difficulty of getting on as guests?

My gut is NGAC will be merely a fantasy and unlikely to happen.

I think you might be surprised. Should not be hard to get on NGAC. I have played it a few times. With a member once, in a tourney twice, and as a prospective member once.

NGAC is on boxgroove for $90. GCOT is also on there for $275.

Nashville golf and athletic will probably be the easiest to get on. GCOT will probably the most expensive and hardest to get on.

Might as well give Belle Meade CC a shot. If your pro can schmooze them, might get you on. What day you looking to play? that will have influence on who lets you on

Old Stone is a good course, but it's at least hour driver north of nashville, one way

Easy drive though, all interstate then maybe 10 mins east off exit 22. Great practice facility. I am not a huge fan of the layout though.

Werd on the street is the combo of africa hot and a thunderstorm every other day for the last month and a half even has the greens at OS crying uncle.

I'll have my pro call around some places and see what's available. We are apparently about 45 min south of downtown Nashville so northern AL may be a nice option too.

A lot of courses with Bentgrass greens are having to work hard to keep them decent right now. Especially on holes where there are a lot of trees around the green blocking any sort of airflow over them. Willowbrook has added fans around some of the greens to try and cool them off. Courses with Bermuda greens are doing well though.
