Windtree Golf course Mount Juliet TN

Looks like it could be closing soon to make way for the Owner's housing projects. If the Nashville area wasn't already the worst decently sized metropolitan area in the south when it comes to public golf courses. I always enjoyed playing there even thou it is far away from where I live.

Being between Nashville and Bowling Green is a golf course desert. Nothing of note in the public realm. Legacy has its moments.

 

Underserved and I can't figure out why.

Being saying it for years,middle TN public courses are junk...most of the good ones are private...

We played there last Friday, I asked about it closing. Apparently this is not for certain and if so may take years before it actually closes.

Ted Rhodes GC is good. Gaylord is good. Hermitage is good. Harpeth Hills is good (except for the greens are crap currently, but has a great layout). Two Rivers just put in champion Bermuda greens, will be good soon.

 

I definitely wouldn't say the public courses are junk. Your standards are junk, jk. Lol

I guess I'm spoiled.. I've played alot of places and of the ones u mentioned Hermitage is the only one I like and it's Presidents Reserve.. We play in Northern Georgia alot... Fields Ferry, Stonebridge, Barnsley Gardens even Nob North is fun course to play... You look at the number of top end private vs top end public.. It's awful in comparison.. Right now I like playing Tims Ford, enjoy the layout and especially the greens.. Only downside is the bunkers are not very good... Wish middle TN would get a group up and play some... Just my 2 cents

I play Tims Ford pretty regularly. It's in excellent condition right now. Love that place.

I'm always down for a round. I'm in Smyrna so I hit up the Rutherford County courses most often. Indian Hills has seen a lot of play from me this year, it's in very good shape.

Courses with Bentgrass greens have been slow. I guess they are trying to keep them alive in the heat. It's starting to cool off so I assume they will get back to cutting them again. I play Willowbrook a lot and their green have been slow for the last month.

I normally book through golf now for about $30 a round which isn't bad.

I live in Arrington, so most of my golf is played at Old Fort or Indian Hills as well. In the last 5 years, until this year is say 97% were at old fort over IH. I have played IH way more this year. Is in great shape. They lost their greens keeper for a month to Smyrna Municipal but he came right back. The greens at OF are my gold standard and always have been but just played more this year at IH for some reason. Both are great walking courses.

 

Yeah, IH on golf now is what I do most of the time

Yes it is. I haven’t played it in a couple of years since I’ve been a member of a private club but it is one of my favorite public clubs. I much rather have them close pine creek.

 

The city of Mount Juliet should buy it and make it a city course. Nashville really can’t stand to lose a nice public golf course.

It's not worth 58$$ on the weekend.... I saw that and knew it wouldn't be long...
