Scotty Cameron Teryllium and Lead Tape

I have a scotty newport longneck TeI3 putter. i have kinda let the finish go to crap, so i'm thinking about rusting it. would that look good? and i think i'm gonna put some lead tape on there b/c it's really light. should i put that on the bottom of the club or on the back of it?

put lead tape on the bottom of the sole. there is a 1" wide leadtape being sold on golfsmith and it is the perfect width for the sole of the sc blade putters. i bought some and put one strip on my cam and it added 9 grams to the overall weight.

I second the Golfsmith 1 inch lead tape suggestion. That stuff is magic. You can cut it exactly to the size of the bottom of your putter and it will add around 7-9 grams and it looks very neat in appearance too. Most lead tape comes in 1/2 inch rolls which doesn't look as good when you have to use it side-by-side to create 1 inch.

Do it!!! for both. When i first got my teryllium, i bought it used, it had some rust on it so being the noob i was, i decided to take some rust remover to try to get the rust off (because it worked so good on my Vokey Raw wedges)(I believe it was CLR or Limeaway). Well two seconds later i realized how weak the finish was. It came right off. So i decided to take the whole finish off figuring that would look better than just half of the finish removed. That night I couldn't sleep because i had ruined a $100 putter (My first Cameron and $100 was a lot to spend on a putter for a poor college kid), so i remembered something i saw on the golf channel. They had an interview with Aaron Baddeley about equipment and he was saying that he always got his putters from Scotty in a raw finish. Then he just dipped them in vinegar and left them out to dry over night. So i figured i'd give it a try. It turned out great. It rusted well, just wipe it down with an old towel in the morning after dipping it and you have a beautiful unique looking putter that i think is better than the oil can finishes. These are not the best photos because they are off my camera phone and i do not have a digital camera. The lead tape works well on the bottom. give it a shot, if you don't like it, you can always send it to the resto dept.

I have lead tape on the sole of my AC VII since I cut 1 1/2" off. Putting with a putter that is properly weighted makes a huge difference in terms of feel and performance.
