Tell me what you guys think of this training aid

I was thinking about getteing the Momentus (sp) Power hitter, the 310g version. Can you guys tell me what you think of the training aid, the dvd, and how has it helped or hurt since you purchased? This thing has gotten rave reviews elsewhere, so I wanted some feedback from here. Did a search on this thing and found zero. So chim in everyone and lets hear some reviews!

I like it, keeps me loose and reminds me to maintain my "lag" at the top of my swing and really ingrains a smooth tempo and solid swing plane, you cannot swing this club incorrectly and you find out what you are doing incorrectly right away thru fatigue, this club wears you out physically if you are trying to work the club. This literally show YOU how to swing easy and on plane using your upper and lower body using TEMPO. Let the club fall and do the work for you, then when you pick up your real club......BOOOOM! Straight penetrating trajectory possibly with a slight draw.

 

The added strength you get swinging this to your "Golf Muscles" is shocking.

do 3 reps of 10 to equal 30 cuts swinging normally

Then do 3 reps of 10 to equal 30 cuts swinging left handed.

 

Had mine about 4 months now and would not give it up!

Save your money, get a 6lb Troy Bar (ebay has them). They are 46" long and of course weight 6lbs. You have to start off slow but you will gain some big numbers in swing speed, use the search tons of good info on the Troy Bars.

No doubt, that troy bar is a nice tool to have, just wish I new about it sooner that i could have saved some green! :)

Or you can do what I did. I took a piece of #4 rebar and cut it to 40", painted it with Rustoleum and put a grip on it. I then wrapped it in tape, just to prevent it from rusting and to smooth the sharp edges.

 

It works fantastic. I swing it several times a day and before I leave for a round of golf. It really helps you to keep your swing on plane and to build up your "golf" muscles.

 

I figure I have about $2 into this great training aide.

I've had the 310g Power Hitter for a little over a month now. I love it. It took me a while to get the hang of it though. I was trying to muscle the club too much because I was overcompensating. It really helped me with my tempo more than anything. I now take it back to the top much slower than I used to and now have a much more fluid and smooth transition at the top. The first few shots with your normal club after you use this thing will be a little squirrelly, but after that you should see an improvement right away. I have had much success with it but should use it more than I have been lately. I've started to come over the top now for some reason.

Yes you can hit balls with the power hitter but for the big price difference between the troybar and power hitter, i'll take the troy bar swing with that then go ahead and hit my clubs, with the savings of around $150.00(not sure of the exact price of the power hitter) I can buy alot of range sessions or plays on the golf course, lessons, or even a new driver head.

I'm going to look into the Troy bar but I know my dad has a $hitload of rebar down at his house. I'll probably rig something up the next time I go down to visit.

 

My buddy has the Powerhitter 310 and let me borrow it for a few weeks as I was working on some swing changes. It helps a lot but I really didn't like hitting balls with it. I'd rather just hit 3/4 sandwedges to groove my swing and actually hit a ball.

I actually hit several balls with this at Golfsmith yesterday and was impressed with the feel, as it felt like a wonderful forged club. I was also surprised at how well I hit the ball with this heavy club, it definitely promotes a smooth tempo and connection between the upper and lower torso. I only swung the club about 2 reps before hitting balls with it and then I only hit about 3-5 balls, but it felt great and I left with a greater confidence in my swing.

 

About two hours later I went over to the Golf Galaxy down the street and tried hitting some drivers in their simulation booths and was consistently over 150mph for ball speed with a new personal best of 155mph. Was it a benefit of the power hitter? I can't say. However, my swings did feel somewhat effortless and very connected. It may be worth it to buy this thing and actually see your ball flight while hitting hit to help with any swing faults that pop up.

I used it in a lesson for a couple of hits to Decrease my swing speed. I was swinging way to fast and it helped me slow my swing down a little.

 

When I train golfers, I never use a weighted implement and replicate the golf swing, first of all because that's not my job and second because it can groove poor neuromuscular patterns and slow things down, which is fine if that's the goal.

 

If you use it right it can be a great tool.
