Mid Life Crisis

Recommended Posts

Christmas morning .. family still sleeping here in the redneck Riviera

Turned 49 yesterday and starting Jan 1 ... 2017 will be the year I hit 50 ... time does fly, trust Uncle Cardy youngin's

Wondering if there's any good tales from the usual rabble rousers of when they hit this milestone?

I need some ideas. I want to head back to Hawaii next Xmas as I love the golf and food there

I scooped my dream sports car up 3 weeks ago ... the s-it show has started

Trying to get some more stuff done off my bucket list. I need to get to a PGA and a British Open. I've done The Masters and a US Open at Shinnecock

maybe a lesson w a top instructor?

Not just a lesson....

Go all out and go to a Golf School.

I've always wanted to do it but have never found the time.

Decent player from my club went about three years ago at around 45.

Everything from fitness to nutrition to actual instruction.

He stuck with it is a better player now than 15-20 years ago.

It wasn't cheap...he went somewhere in Orlando and said the entire trip was 12K.

Another fun thing is to go Florida and play in Mini-Tour Pro-ams. I did that a few time each year for 10 years or so.

Usually two days of play and occasionally three but you get paired with good young players (and a few that suck) trying to make it. Some of them will and you get to sit back and watch them on TV.

What you are down here? You said you were at the Redneck Rivieria. That is here Don't tell me you are in Surfside.

As far as mid life crisis my wife says I never have had one because I have never grown up. Just ask her she will tell you I am 60 going on 16. I did get rid of both of my Harleys a few years ago because I could not balance them like I should any more and it is dangerous as heck riding down here but I am still a kid. I still rock and roll got Ronnie James Dio blasting as I type now

I'm just here to take notes as I'll be 50 soon too. After having my 1st heart attack this year, like you Cardoustie, there are things that are probably better off being done sooner, than later.

Hi Imp,

I was struck by the way you wrote about having your "first" heart attack, are you planning on having a second or more?

Oh, that's just my sense of humor. Just like when I introduce people to my wife as "my 1st wife". I get jabbed, but it's worth it. :)

(Let's just say it's family history. No, I don't *plan* on having anymore, but I can tell you it will probably be a heart attack that does me in, much like my dad, my mothers only brother, both my grand fathers, etc... or a stroke like my dad's sister or their mother. It's hereditary. No matter how well I treat my body, exercise, etc... my families tickers on both sides are suspect. I have no illusions in this life. And it was only a mild one at that. The PLB artery started to collapse in on itself (not from blockage, but just a flow issue). The rest of my heart, when scoped when doing the 2 stents in the PLB, looked great from the inside, no plaque buildup anywhere. Doc said looked like it was 20 years old from the inside.)

A mid-life crisis was explained to me this way. In their early to mid 20s, a guy typically establishes goals to be reached before he reaches his mid 40s to 50. If those goals have been achieved, typically there is no mid-life crisis. Its only when those goals are still out of reach is when the crisis occurs. Again, that's what I have been told, I have no idea of its accuracy. But in my case, professionally, my middle aged goals were achieved and retirement goals were set. Additionally, I think it helped that I didn't get married until my late 30s and my wife is 11 years younger than I.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
