Sydney best iron fitting shop? Businness trip

Hi Guys / Girls,

 

Haven't been posting-active for a string of years,spending time working amongst other inferior activities...I'm taking up the the game again and will hit Sydney in mid-march on a businesstrip - what golfshops in central Sydney can You recommend for ironfittings, good selections of gear and eventually buying a set?

 

BTW, residing in Denmark and playing off a 8.5 hcp :to_become_senile:

 

Any help much appreciated

No idea about buying clubs in Denmark, but as you may know, clubs in Sydney cost a fortune. I've found good deals in Singapore and Tokyo and of course clubs are often a steal in the US. Over many years I never found a great fitter in the CBD area but I bought a driver from the guys at Golf Mart on York Street and they were able to give me a fairly good deal and do some basic fitting work. Nice guys at that time. Last time I visited them was three years ago.

 

But, about seven years ago I bought a used set of players irons from an Aussie pro and the pros at The Australian set me up with a quality fitter but sorry I couldn't tell you his name. I would hazard that the pros at The Australian or New South Wales could refer you to a good quality fitter.

 

Hopefully someone in the Sydney area will chime in and provide better and more current info. Good luck.

Honestly options in the cbd are non existent.

 

Visit Pureform in Alexandria for fitting & clubs if you want bells & whistles.

 

Prices in Oz are quite high. Think us dollar + 30% + currency conversion.

 

Personally I would make the trek to Power Golf @ Castle Hill and see Todd, he will look after you. Fitting is basic.

 

Also, visit Gerry @ Balmain golf for some good deals on used (mint gear) & other cool gear. No fitting though so probably best if you know what you want.

 

Steer clear of all Golf Mart and all Drummond Golf stores.

Pureform is probably the go for fancy fitting. Their clubs are expensive.

 

Prices aren't actually too bad here.

 

I bought a set of Steelhead irons recently for AUD $135 a club. This is about the same as the price in the US allowing for exchange rate.

Precision Golf in Chatswood is another choice, they're about 15 mins from the city.

As above, stay away from any Golf Mart stores.

 

If you want a top notch fitting with all aftermarket shafts and what not, try pureform golf in Alexandria. Could cost $5000+ AUD

 

I would recommend powergolf or Drummond golf if you want a fairly comprehensive fitting that won't break the bank.
