Saint Andrews Golf Week

Has anyone done the Saint Andrews Golf Week? For a first time (bucket list) trip to Scotland would this be one of the better ways to go?

I didn't do it but looked into it quite a bit, and it makes a fairly low stress way of going, albeit at a pretty high cost. I ultimately decided I wanted to do more of a "sampler" for my first trip to Scotland, seeing more of the country and experiencing more of the great courses. I'm doing a 2 and 1/2 week trip, playing 9 times at most of the Open venues along with Royal Dornach, for not much more cost than the golf week tour. We have the non-golfer wives with us, so that made best sense for us.

I am headed to St. Andrews in 6 weeks with a foursome and booked the entire trip myself. It is very easy to do as long as you have enough time to enter the annual lottery for the Old Course.

Sounds good, wish I had a foursome willing to go.

We are going on our second Scotland trip this summer. I would not do your entire week in St Andrews. Not sure how many days of golf you are planning but think about 4 days of golf in St Andrews.

Sunday - Wed

The Old Course (Mon Tue or Wed) then plan other courses around TOC tee time.

Second St Andrews course that is required (New Course, Jubile, Castle)

Options for another include Carnoustie (Not a favorite with our group) Lundin, Crail

 

Pick second hub of golf for 3 days

Edinburgh/ Lothian (Golf Coast); Stay in Edinburgh and shuttle to golf.

Muirfield on Thursday (Open to public Tue & Thur)

North Berwick on Friday

Sat options Dunbar or Gullane

 

Other golf hub options

Ayr/Troon: Troon, Turnberry, Prestick & Western Gailes

Inverness: Royal Dornoch, Castle Stuart.
