I'm liking mine. Only issue is that locking on a pin only happens on maybe half the pins I shoot, and doesn't seem corollated with distance. My home course's pins all have prisms, and I feel like I'm doing a decent job of holding steady with the crosshairs on the prism.

Anyone else having issues locking on pins?

Yeah....I don't get the 'beep' when scanning and trying to lock on the prisms. I think that i am doing it correctly. ??

I does, however, pick up the flagstick easily when holding it steady and not scanning.

Having the same issue. 20% of the time I get the "beep".

I got the beep once and it scared me since I had never heard it before!

I've yet to hear a 'beep'....not sure why.

According to the manual, "Prism Lock only works when in Scan Mode. By pressing and holding POWER you will get constant updated distance readings until the laser hits the prism."

FYI, there are a lot of features of this rangefinder that can be overlooked without the manual. It is not the most user friendly consumer product so you must read the manual completely to unlock the full potential of this rangefinder. For example, to properly use the True Golf Range (TGR) feature, you must input your club yardages at a specific temperature and elevation and also input the current temperature and elevation. It's highly unlikely someone can do this without reading the manual carefully.

To kill your assumption, I did receive a complete manual with the unit and read it front to back. I've also used it for 36 holes and tried the

scan every time - not one single beep. Oh,...I did make sure that the beep was activated.

Next thought......

On page 30 of the manual, "When using Scan Mode to range a course feature with integral prisms, your GX3 rangefinder by default, will produce an audible beep and the Prism Lock icon will be shown in the lower left portion of the display." Do you ever see this icon?

Have you tried scanning the Prism reflector from close range like 20 yds.? Also, maybe info in this thread helps. Have you tried a reset to factory settings? If that doesn't help then I would contact Leupold about having your unit replaced.

Unfortunately, I have yet to play a course with Prism flagsticks to enable the Prism lock feature so I can't provide any help based on first-hand experience. Hopefully someone else can. Good luck!

If you don't input the temperature and elevation every time you use it, how accurate will the TGR be?

It'll be as accurate as any other rangefinder with slope function. The temp/elevation is not necessary to get a slope calculation, just an added feature. Trig is trig.

So far as the beep is concerned; the gx-3i2 I had never beeped at anything, even when prisms were there. I seldom play courses with prisms though. I may not have had it turned on or something. Who knows. Never bothered me though.

I haven't even gotten mine but I'm already questioning this purchase vs the Precision Pro

Ordered 4/19. UPS label produced. Still sitting on dock. Sigh...

Finally arrived yesterday.

Question for contact/glass wearers:

I'm near sighted and wear contacts. Seems I can adjust the focus to either see the reticle or target well. Settled somewhere in between.

Did anyone else have this issue?
