Bushnell Tour X or Leupold GX-2i3

Recommended Posts

I see both of these can be had for right around $300. I have a Leupold GX-2i and previously had a Bushnell 1000 ARC (hunting).

Looking to sell my GX-2i and upgrade to a new one. Any other recommendations around $300 or under? Have also been considering Precision Pro NX7 Pro.

Thanks.

You might want to check out some sales for Memorial Day. A few weeks ago Dick's had 20% off one item and it did apply to the new Bushnell models. That could open up some options for your price range. I just sold my Tour X to another member, but it is awesome... A little bigger than others, but if you have big hands it will help you keep it steadier.

I think I will buy the Tour X from Costco for $289 for the simple reason that cannot go wrong with Costco's customer service. I was considering the NX7 Pro but the inconsistent reading reports turned me off.

I'll be "upgrading" from a Leupold GX-3i which is a very high quality device.. I just want to add the slope without paying $450 for the GX-5i3.

The Tour X is probably a good choice.

When doing my research I saw a lot of feedback about Leupold units failing in various ways but set those concerns aside because they seemed to stand behind their product 110%.

As such, I paid up for the top of the line Leupold GX-5i3 and it was defective right out of the box. I took it back to the retailer and they didn't have another unit to give me, and Leupold won't replace. They want to go the mail it back and forth route, I just don't feel like this is appropriate given the price point and the fact it was a brand new sealed unit from an authorized dealer.

I got a lemon.

PS -- I am hearing the problems with the GX-5i3 are widespread, apparently they shipped a ton of faulty units.

My tour x from Costco should be here tomorrow. Hope to use it this weekend.

Let us know if it is hard to see in darker light like some of the reviews have said.

Ok, used it today for the first time. Teed off at 10 am and it was cloudy for 3/4 of the round. Played 21 holes today. It was NOT hard to see the flag. It was definitely darker than most range finders I have used. One of the guys that played with me had a v3 and it was certainly brighter. That said, I had no issues seeing the flag when it was darker and cloudy or obviously, when it was more sunny. It was like I was looking thru sunglasses but never had a hard time seeing. I'm rethinking the idea of sending it back. For the money, $289 at Costco I like it. It fits in my hand better than most I've held.

I have two junior golfers in my family and I have both Bushnell and Leupold rangefinders. I just recently purchased the Leupold GX 2I3 for my son and here is what I've noticed. The optics are better than the Bushnell and overall just clearer. I like the fact that it has the slope option on it and see that as a plus. I haven't used the club selector tool yet but I may play around with that later. The biggest negative with the Leupold is that I've found it's harder to lock onto the target than the Bushnell. Thr Bushnell has the jolt technology and you get that instant feedback when it locks on. You don't get that with Leupold. If you are looking for ease of use, go with the Bushnell. If you are looking for the best optics go with the Leupold.

IF you're playing at a course with prizms on the flag, the Leupold will beep. Otherwise, you're better "double checking" and shooting a few things in the target area

Played again with the Tour x. My partner has an older V3. His is definitely brighter but I love my tour x. Again, it's like looking thru sunglasses. It works great, black or red. The slope is great. You can see the targets just fine, just thru "sunglasses".

I bought it since it was thru Costco so returns would be easy if I had a problem.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
