Purchasing a 2016 M2 Driver. But what shaft?

I went to Golf Galaxy yesterday and happened to try one of these drivers out in the range. It was a 10.5 (tuned down to 8.5) with a Fujikura Pro 60 stiff shaft.

 

I loved the feel of the driver and the results, but when I really tried to go at it with the club, I hit a pretty large hook. I had to really try to cut the ball to get a mostly straight/slight fade result.

 

I'm curious as to what shaft would most likely be the best option for me.

 

About myself:

 

1. Current driver is Titleist 913d3 8.5* with a Diamana D+ 62g stiff.

2. My tempo is a bit quicker at times, but I feel like it's pretty moderate honestly. I also don't feel like I put a lot of load into the shaft.

3. I would say my ball striking consistency is a 7.

4. I'm looking for a driver that is a bit more forgiving and also less likely to hook when I go at it.

5. I have spent time on a launch monitor with my current driver. Launch: 13*. Spin: 2,200 RPM. Clubhead Speed: 108mph. I am and always have been a fairly low spin player. I have hit all kinds of driver shafts, some even with regular flex, and rarely see my spin go over 2,800 RPM.

6. I want to take the left out of play. Get more distance. More carry.

7. My big miss is high off the toe and a big hook.

8. When I'm playing well, I tend to hit a mid-launch draw. I'd like to play a bit higher straight ball.

10. I'm from Missouri and the courses I play here are mostly average length (6,500 yards or so) and tend to dry out a bit in the summer. The fairways are always zoysia.

11. I'm 6'1" and 250lbs. I go to the gym about 5 days a week. My posture is pretty good, but I do tend to stand a bit taller at address.

12. In terms of shaft length, I try not to go over 45". I play my clubs extended, but I also choke down on most every club.

If you want to replace your driver I would choose the head's you like (sound, look, feel) and then start looking into shafts. Can't go wrong with sticking to the same shaft.

 

From my perspective the hook could be caused from your swing since your normal swing when you're playing well is a draw and misses are a hook.

 

The last month I've been doing the same thing as you (misses left with a hook/draw), swinging well would be a nice draw. Found out I wasn't rotating properly through the downswing and my upper body would hang back too much causing the bad hooks.

 

Uploading a video of your swing (face-on) could potentially rule this out or fix it.
