how to get stronger for golf-any good sites or workouts?

Just wondering if anybody knows of good websites or books to gain strength for golf without doing exercies that would hinder the swing. if anyone has any useful information, it would be gratefully appreciated.

I bought the book the ultimate guide to weight training for golf from www.sportsworkout.com last year and have gotten so much stronger. off season, pre season and in season workout plans. Incorporate with core and stretching exercises and you will be loving the extra length off tee and on all irons. I also just started taking a new nutritional beverage called Mona Vie that is all natural(19 diff fruits) and also has glucosamine and essential fatty acids for joint repair and health. I've never felt better and all those nagging aches and pains from working out and golfing are gone. Much more energy as well. I agree with all the above but just wanted to tell you whet I've done personally that's helped. Without getting too specific, I've done some heavy weight training with my upper body to increase strength in my chest, arms and upper back. This of course has added mass to my upper body which in some schools of thought is a hinderance to the swing. Two things, a) it all depends on how much mass (if I was Schwartzenegger, I'd have a problem with my swing but I'm not) and b) Stretching is the best thing you can do. Strength without flexibility is the death of a golf swing. I've seen extremely thin players knock the cover off the ball due to their flexibility.

Secondarily I've worked on strengthening my core (abs, lower back, upper legs). It is critical to have strength as close to equal as possible in both upper body and the core as well as flexibility (again, don't forget the stretching....muy importante). Too much strength in one or the other can take over the swing so be careful.

In the end, it's all relative as the biggest key is being limber. I think you get a quicker lift in distance from stretching that you do weight lifting and stretching helps inhibit injuries. Weight lifting will help upper end distance (i.e when you are capped out on your felxibility).

Just my two cents....may not work for everyone but it's worked for me. In just a few months I've graduated my 9-iron from 140 to 150-155 while maintaining my accuracy.
