Loft and Lie Measuring Gauge (Golfmechanix Models)

I haven't had a shop to work on clubs ~2 years now ( :stink: ) . I meant to set it up the day I closed on my house and life got in the way. After consideration, I'd like to add a loft/ lie measuring gauge to verify all the adjustments I make. I have settled on (2) models: 010331 Precision Lie & Loft Measuring Gauge

I attached PDF catalog sheets for both...

Has anyone used either? They seem to have the same features...is it worth paying extra for the clubmaker's? How does someone in the USA contact golfmechanix? I would ask them these questions, but they don't seem to have any USA contacts listed on their site.

Thank you to anyone that has any insight, or experience with either model gauge.

I have communicated with Mondher via email in the past- he is very quick in responding to your questions. I am sure either of those gauges will suit your needs. This Mitchell is interesting as well - I wonder why it is not on the Mitchell web site ?

Maybe they stopped producing it, it only measures irons so that could be its limitation. This is an odd design, it basically clamps like a bending machine, I thought the whole point of a specs gauge is to sole the club on a flat surface...

I have not done any business with Mondher but he is very trusted in the industry. I would have no issues in dealing with him. Tom Wishon often speaks very highly of Mondher and his products.

Golf Mechanix is Mondher Lattiri ([email protected] ) and he IS the best there is in the world at designing and manufacturing golf clubmaking tools and machinery. He is also one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet in this great business of working on golf equipment. He invented the "green machine" which is that large, heavy club specs measurement machine that has become THE standard gauge for head specs measurement for every clubhead production factory on the planet. It was from that original gauge that I had the pleasure of helping to convince him to expand his company back in 93 to eventually turn it into the company it has become with TONS of great machinery and equipment.

That was the year I took over running the component division for Golfsmith and I desperately needed a factory to manufacture all of the tools and machines that Golfsmith sold to clubmakers. Basically I told him if he would expand to make everything in the Golfsmith catalog, I would give him all the Golfsmith business. He did, and I followed through and from 93 through 02 when I left GS to start my own company, he and I had some of the most enjoyable times brainstorming ideas for new tools and machines.

Mondher has always been based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan which had been the center of all clubhead production before these factories all began to move over to China in the late 90s to early 2000s. MOst of the big clubhead factories still have their HQ in Kaohsiung as well as their R&D depts. He is as trustworthy as the day is long and many of the veteran clubmakers do buy stuff directly from him. It is very easy to do that with all the shipping efficiency of today's carriers. Email him and tell him what you want and he'll give you the best advice and help.
