Anyone played there recently? Going next weekend and thinking about taking the clubs.

Played Palmer 2-3 weeks ago and was really impressed with the conditioning of the course...greens were fantastic.

Resort course is closed until the end of the year for upgrades.

Played Palmer in June - was nice back then. Resort is closed as noted, what I found interesting after talking to ownership is that they strongly considered closing the Resort Course and using the land for more housing, last minute decision saved the course.

That's unfortunate that they were considering closing the resort course. Although that part of town is seemingly building nothing but high-priced apartments and condos, so that must be where the money is.

 

Anyway, the Palmer course is nice. I enjoy playing there occasionally, but it exemplifies everything that's wrong with modern course design. Blind tee shots, overly sloped greens, thick woods just 10 yards into the rough, etc. It does have some great views of the city though. Overall I prefer the resort course.

Didn’t know that, if there gonna close a course I would hope they would close the Palmer course and leave the resort course as is.

 

Played Palmer last weekend and conditions are great right now.
