Players Club is a good one. Eagle Hills in Papillion is one of my favorite layouts, but a lot of forced carrys. You really cant go wrong anywhere in Omaha.

I'd recommend BentTree in CouncilBluffs. Great layout and good course conditions.

Also, IndianCreek is outstanding from a course condition perspective, with possibly the best greens in the area.

Lastly, ArborLinks in NebraskaCity just went to a private membership this year. Word has it that they are allowing 4 public t-times per day. A little costly, but this one is without a doubt the BEST course in the area (public or private).

I'm a member at the Player's Club, and I do not think you will be disapointed. Awesome course, and the newest 9 (27 holes total) is a great addition. The 3rd nine is still maturing since it just opened in the spring, but a great layout for 27. Bent Tree in CB is a great layout, but as mentioned, conditions sometimes vary. As far as other Omaha area courses, Ironhorse and Quarry are great.

I think I added Quarry Oaks in place of Woodland Hills. And it's closer.

I think QO is overpriced for what you get and doesn't compare to Woodland Hills. How often do you get the chance to play a Golf Digest 5 Star course for under $50??? QO is way out in West Omaha so you may as well drive the extra 15 minutes to WH.

I would seriously think about playing Willow Lakes in Bellevue vice Shoreline or CB CC; Robert Trent Jones course for about $25.

My rankings:

1. Player's Club at Deer Creek (may be a bit partial to this as I'm a member) - Arnold Palmer design and possible site of the 2010 Cox Classic - and they have 27 holes now.

2. Willow Lakes (again this is a challenging Robert Trent Jones Sr. track for $25 riding (DUH!!))

3. Dodge Park by Harrah's Casino (fun course to play and leave driver at home if you want)

4. Quarry Oaks - (beuautiful scenery, but was there a couple weeks ago and the greens weren't in as good as shape as they should be.)

5. Woodland Hills - (nice course for the money)

Sounds good to me. I played Dodge Park last year, and really liked it. Very surprised! I guess I have to try and play the Players Club.

I have an in to MAYBE play Dismal River too up in the Sand Hills. It's like 51/2 hour drive though. ???

shoreline is the closest course from creighton university and where i play a lot of my rounds. this course rewards you when you hit the fairway and punishes bad tee shots with trees, rough, and more trees. there are a lot of risk/reward holes where you could drive the green or get really close (setting up a half wedge into the green) that make it appealing. greens and fairways are kept decently. it's a average and short course that can be a nightmare if your accuracy is off that day. i'd give it a 3 stars outta 5.

one course that is really under-rated is benson park golf course. for a muni, it's kept well, the hole layouts are great with doglegs, uphill/downhill tee shots, and sand protecting the greens pretty well. one of the sleeper courses in omaha. 3.5/5

indian creek is a very nice course that is well kept and challenging from the right tees. 3.5/5

i'd agree to stay away from fox run. nothing but straight holes make for a really boring course layout. plus the course isn't kept too well. only holes worth mentioning are 15 and 16 that bring water into play and are beautiful holes. the scenery makes me forget for a while that those holes are also dead straight. 2/5

If you want to drive that far, just play Wild Horse in Gothenburg, NE - Ben Crenshaw's group designed this + the Sand Hills CC in Mullen, NE. Wild Horse is public, would be a shorter drive, and is always rated in the top 50 or so courses in the USA. It's a links style course with huge greens that roll about a 15........Have fun w/ that one.

I think the best course in the Omaha area is Quarry Oaks. Iron Horse is also a good place to play. Check out Ashland Country Club if you are interested in an affordable country club. They have open tee times for the public.
