Golf GPS for Smartphones

anyone use one?

I was reviewing the post http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index.php?sh...8496&hl=gps and was looking at the igolf. I have a HTC TyTN aka Cingular 8525 Smartphone and was wondering if anyone uses a software based golf GPS program instead of a stand alone device?

Looking at the prices, (200+ range) I figure I can get by with software $35, bluetooth gps $45 and if I had to the $29 fee to download my courses if I didnt want to map them myself.

Is there any other software for a windows smartphone besides the iGolf?

Anyone with experience with them?

I use Intelligolf to keep score. It also has a GPS feature, but I don't use it much, as I prefer my Pinseeker. iGolf looks a little more refined, but I don't like the idea of paying for the downloads. Intelligolf also comes with a nice desktop application that makes pretty charts and graphs and gives you lots of statistics about most anything you can think of. You can also download courses over-the-air if you have a data package for your phone. That has come in handy a few times.

 

Might have to check out iGolf though. Looks pretty sweet.

Does your phone's GPS support WAAG? If not I don't think you will find it accurate enough for golf.

I think he's looking at a Bluetooth GPS.

The little 80 dollar GPS unit I picked up is just fine to within +/- 2 meters. If you're good enough for that to make a difference, your best bet is doing a lot of pacing and getting or making a good yardage book. I'm not even close.

 

I've taken my pinseeker out and compared it to the little bluetooth GPS with intelligolf, and compared both to the cart GPS, and they are perhaps 2-3 meters +/- after a few seconds.

I looked at Intelligolf. I dont need something that has a bunch of diff features. I'm just looking for the GPS Mapping/Distances.

 

I'll check it out though, it looks like there is a trial I can download.
