Adam's Swing

 

If you watch Adam's swing when they stop it at the top, his clubface seems pretty square, but at address (at 30 seconds) he seems like he has a pretty strong grip.

 

I was just wondering what ya'll thought and if he, in fact, does have a strong grip, how does he get in that good a position at the top.

I personally have no clue. I too have a pretty strong grip, and everybody i have check my position at the top says I'm perfectly square... a mystery...

wrist stays cupped at the top of the swing. I just went through this this past weekend with my instructor because my grip has gotten stronger in the past few weeks therefore creating a shut face if you do not have the cup at the top of the swing.

Adam has an absolute beautifull swing, but in my experience is to not try and emulate another golfers swing because that never ends up good, for me anyways. I have tried different tips and tricks from other golfers/golf mags and I always end up going back to what my body does naturaly and just work with that! I wish my swing was as structured and nice as Adam's!

looks like adam scott isnt rotating through his backswing and limited rotation through the swing by obvious position of his hands in relation to his forearms. This is a good move if you do not rotate and are a prone to slices since you can keep the face square for a much longer time. Only draw back is you lose a little clubhead speed through impact since you are not fully releasing.

Saw a video comparison of Adam's and Tiger's swing on one the recent golf tournament TV broadcasts and Adam's and Tiger's swing, body movements and timing are almost identical to each other.

That is pretty odd. I use a strong grip and I am not square at the top. Then again, I'm not very good with my driver or any of the long clubs.

I actually have this swing saved as one of my favorites on youtube. But, if you look closely, Adam's club is actually SLIGHTLY closed at the top. Its not perfectly square. From the face on view, it definitely looks like a strong grip.

He's definitely got a stronger than neutral grip

 

 

 

His clubhead is most definitely slightly closed.

I wouldn't call it perfection. Adam seems to be way too stiff in the neck and head region, when standing over the ball to a degreee that makes it looks a bit too fabricated for my taste. Justin Rose has the same kind of stiffness when standing over the ball......I still like both players swings, but they are not my all time favorite, and not perfect.

 

I would love to have his swing any time of the day, but it's not perfection by any means........ :clapping:

 

I think Geoff Ogilvy's swing looks 110% more natural and free flowing compared to Adam Scott's swing.

Adams swing looks to be a 1999 Butch Harmon-Tiger fabrication - but without the aggresion of Tiger, that I fancy so much.

Scott has a great swing and as long as the clubface is square through the impact position that is all that matters, he can repeat his move and that is why he hits it so well, Scott is a great player

lol, probably cos Geoff Ogilvy doesn't care for technicalities at all - he just swings the club lol. Like when he got to the British Open this year, he had to ask his coach to teach him how to hit a draw lol

I don't agree with this, cos u see guys like Adam Scott who have great swings but have subpar short games (the part that counts lol), whereas u see guys with less then "modern-perfect" swings (Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson), but have great short games. Therein lies the difference to me. That stuff around the green is where it all counts.
