Anser 2 cavity markings

I recently picked up an original stainless anser 2 at a thrift shop, and it's cavity markings differ slightly from any other anser 2 I've seen in person.

 

More specifically, there is a small "3" stamped/cast on the third line, before the address. I did some looking online and saw a couple other ones with a 3 in that same spot, and one with a 4. Most of the other photos I've seen; and my other stainless anser 2 of a similar vintage; have no such number.

 

Does anyone have any insight into why some anser 2's have this number and what if anything it references? I know this model isn't particularly valuable, this is just for my own curiosity.

Mine has a "2" stamp. I don't know what it means either but as a guess I'd say it is probably a casting mold number or identifier. Might be a lot number or series number too. I'm going to go with mold number. You know, now that you mention it I think I heard somewhere that the 2's are rare and worth a lot more than the 3's. Lol

 

Not that it would matter anyway - I love it and wouldn't trade it for a brand new Scotty Carmichael or whatever. Replacing a classic like that is like replacing your aging dog - it's gonna have to die before I'll say goodbye.
